Hi! just got an email from Carnegie Mellon telling me that I am on the waitlist. Anyone else hear from them? not sure what my chances are getting in from the waitlist but now i'm on two.. carnegie and yale lmao fuck
i've been telling myself that they are just slow and meticulous in their process. who knows though. I haven't seen anyone post on here that they've gotten news.. Maybe there are 6 admitted students out there who don't hang out on this forum
i'm trying to decide ? they did offer me money but it still wouldn't be free or anything so im just not sure. what do you think of the program? i keep going back and forth about how i feel abt it
i got an offer of aid with my acceptance notification but maybe they are still rolling out offers? TBH I am thinking I probably wont go to Penn which might be good news for other people who havent heard about funding yet? I hope!
yea i got waitlisted too : / kind of hard to imagine someone getting in and NOT going. But i do remember meeting a first year in one of the zoom things that mentioned getting in from the waitlist so i guess it does happen.... im not very optimistic and waiting longer is rough
i really thought I was ready to be rejected and go to risd instead but now for some reason I am more invested than before, like should i literally wait a whole year to apply again..?
feels bad lol. also in the status update all the 'maybe you would have been a first round acceptance in a normal year' like ok does not make it feel better! thanks tho!
Hi! forgot to update: I spoke to the chair and she reassured me that I had until April 15 to make a commitment, although she also said "sooner is better so we can allocate fellowships" I haven't committed yet - waiting to hear from yale and carnegie mellon before making a final choice
anyone working on navigating Yale financial aid? I can see how the CSS profile helps account for different layers of privilege but the application is seriously extensive and I can't really see either of my divorced parents getting involved enough to complete it in the next few days, especially as I'm long since financially independent >.<
People talk about Yale financial aid being really available and generous though - - idk
it was a very vague conversation.. there was mention of a deposit but no details. I suspect they are just trying to pressure me which is a little anxiety inducing - I felt really good about the faculty who interviewed me, liked them a lot and all. but now they r stressin me out.
anyway. i'm hoping to have a choice between risd, yale, and carnegie mellon. but also afraid to have to make that choice ?
thanks for your response
thank you for this info! tragically RISD doesn't seem to be a member of the 'council of graduate schools' ? which makes me wonder if they can do whatever the want. I reached out to the chair again so hopefully she will clarify..
hi people... been lurking for a while but now, a question:
I got accepted to RISD painting w/ a very generous financial aid fellowship. the thing is- they are pressuring me to make a commitment by March 1, which seems very early. I still have interviews (including one w/ Yale) all this week until as late as Feb 27, so i don't exactly feel ready to commit without knowing all my options! Is this happening to any of y'all? arent there some rules or something about how long you can take to accept an offer?
yikes
