There are a lot of topics by students who are missing one letter for reasons beyond their control. Anyone know what schools do if that third professor never actually submits? Do they review the app as normal? Immediately trash it? Put it on hold and review it at the end?

Seems kind of tacky. I wouldn't do it.

A shortcut is if the two sets of numbers you are comparing sum to the same value, then the pair of numbers that is closest together will be the larger group. e.g. Compare (3)(8) (4)(7) Both sum to 11. 4 and 7 are closer than 3 and 8, therefore 4 and 7 multiply to a larger value.

What about if you want to work in academia but not in the field of your PhD (e.g. Economics PhD but teach at a law school or Political Science PhD and teach at a business school)? Assume you already hold an advanced degree in the other field (JD or MBA) when applying.
