    Comps!

    Congrats! You'll do great!
  2. Thanks! I'll start looking into that. I'm hoping to become a researcher adn writer.
  3. I'm currently working primarily on the postbellum South, in the intersection between economics, culture, and women's issues. It's subject to change in my phd program of course, but that's what I'm working on for my thesis. Southern economic history plus women's history are two things I'm really interested in.
  4. Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee. I could also go to Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, but would rather not!
  5. Hi everyone! I'm brand new here. I didn't know this place existed until a few minutes ago. I'm on track to finish my Master's in U.S. History in Spring of 2022. I'd like to go straight into a PhD program that fall, so I'm starting my search for schools. I thought maybe this forum might have some good recommendations for me. Here are my criteria so far: 1.) Must be in the southeast. (This is non negotiable due to child custody arrangements.) 2.) Have a good program in U.S. History. 3.) Be okay with non traditional students, particularly middle aged moms. I'm developing a list on my own of course, but I'm hoping to talk to others who've been down this road before. Thank you!
