Currently researching and making a pro/con list of each program. Does anyone have any insights on these two programs and the pros and cons of each? I want a program that offers the chance to obtain research experience (never done before), has good faculty, unbiased, and open to innovative ideas/discussion based. Also keeping the door open if I want to apply to a PhD in the future.

Heard back from Teachers College, anyone have insight on their mental health counseling program vs NYU Steinhardt's?

I'm getting frustrated about Columbia - I applied back in Dec. I know patience is key here, but I am assuming I'm going to get rejected. Womp womp.
Yeah I haven't heard either. I'd rather just know if I am in or not. I am hoping I will know by the 20th, but I applied for the Counseling M.A. and I am not sure if that is the same timeline. Hopefully. I applied Jan right before the deadline

I emailed TC Columbia University about the timeline for decisions, they said that by the end of THIS WEEK (March 20), applicants will know if they were accepted or not.
Amazing! Hopefully this is for Masters in Counseling too

I was accepted to Teachers college yesterday- no interview but I am from CA. Have not heard yet from NYU.
Did you get accepted into Teachers College for Counseling Masters or Psychology Masters?

One of the biggest flaws with CACREP accreditation is that it requires that all faculty within the program have a PhD in Counselor Education. If you look at the faculty list at NYU, it looks like they are all psychologists. My university has a masters in counseling program, and they are not eligible for CACREP accreditation because the faculty are all psychologists and it is housed in the psychology department.
Wow I had no idea. That is a a flaw in accreditation to be honest... makes sense and thanks so much for explaining! And agreed about the student debt and salary hopefully ill hear back from Hunter. Not sure about teachers college still if they interview all masters applicants or not

For the person who was excepted into NYU Steinhardt for Clinical Mental Health Counseling- Did you interview?
No interview. Does anyone know if Teachers College interviews everyone for their counseling program? or only some applicants. I did not hear for an interview

NYU got back to me today with a decision. Hope you got one, too!
How do you feel about this program and its recognition? I was a little worried because it is not CACREP accredited but I know NYU is recognized worldwide. I got accepted as well

I heard back from NYU - I was accepted. I did not apply to Fordham. I applied to Teachers College and have not heard. I did not receive an interview from them, is that a bad sign do they interview everyone?

I was admitted to NYU last week and the NSSR this week with a 55% scholarship. Does anyone know anything about the NYU program for Mental Health Counseling, is the reputation okay I see it is not CACREP accredited? I also read poor things about NSSR - how come?
I've been rejected from Baruch College so far, and am waiting to hear from Hunter and Columbia. I did not receive an interview for Columbia's Mental Health Counseling program - do they interview everyone?

I posted this in the wrong form originally, but I am deciding between the NYU Steinhardt Mental Health Counseling Masters and Columbia Teachers College Mental Health Counseling Masters. Anyone have insight on their experiences and what they know about the two programs?
