  5. What were you able to see when you logged in?
  6. You could also invest in a french press and save money on buying filters, plus only make a cup or two at a time.

    Bikes

I'm going to echo the "join a bike co-op" sentiment. I'm a member of my local bike co-op and built myself a road bike for a total cost of about 60 dollars, and its by far the best bike i've ever owned in terms of smoothness of the ride. Another great reason to build your own bike is the fact that if anything breaks down, you've had the experience of putting it together and minor repairs become trivial tasks.
  8. Are you sure she wasnt joking? Albiet a bad joke, but if she was happy with your progress, why bother calling you a waste of money..?

    St. Louis, MO

Anyone have any suggestions for good rental companies around WashU? Like around CWE, Clayton, Skinker/Debaliviere?
  10. I don't know too much about the apartments themselves, but i know the area should be pretty quiet, if thats what you're looking for. If you want to be around a place with a bit more to do, I suggest living around Westside park in champaign. Downtown champaign has a pretty lively nightlife Edit: I also noticed that you're going to be in chemistry? What I can tell you is that the hessel park apartments are pretty far away from campus. Unless you have a car, I'd imagine it'd be a real pain to get to and from class/lab. I suggest living in urbana as its a lot closer to campus, and the buildings where you'll likely be.
  11. Both those areas will be relatively undergrad-free. Anything east of vine will definitely be out of undergrad range. Those places you listed are nice especially since there are a good number of grocery stores and decent restaurants in the area, plus easy access to bus routes that'll take you right to campus. I think you'd be fine at either 305 Elm or 402 Springfield.
  12. Hey, sorry to put a little ad in here, I just thought I'd mention it since most of you seem to be talking apartments. I'm currently a senior at UIUC (and I grew up in Champaign-Urbana). My family owns an apartment off campus that we're looking to rent, less than a 10 minute walk to the engineering campus, or a 5 minute bus ride(two different bus lines). Its a 3 bedroom condo/townhouse with 2 bathrooms. Its on the corner of Busey and Springfield in Urbana (if you feel like looking it up on google maps). Here is a link to the craigslist ad: http://chambana.craigslist.org/apa/2311442806.html If you might be interested in the apartment, or if you have any questions about UIUC and the surrounding area in general, send me a PM!
  13. BME isn't technically at the medical school, but there are lots of collaborations between bme/med school faculty. One of the labs I want to work in is situated on the med school campus, so its an ideal place. Plus distance isnt a problem since the metrolink will take me to whitaker hall (the bme building) in a few minutes. Although, you're right, price is becoming an issue for CWE living.
  14. What websites are you looking at for apartments? I've pretty much been limited to craigslist/padmapper, which doesnt give much on the order of reviews.
  15. Yeah, although I've seen studio apartments for around 500-600 all utilities included. We'll see once i drive down though. So you decided to go with WashU over vandy? What made you make the decision? (I commented on your post in the CS subforum)
