  1. It seems like everybody heard the same thing. Although I'm a bit confused because they said they are committed to providing us with a 'very competitive five year package' but I don't know if that's still going to happen if we get denied for a fellowship?
  2. I went to Thomas Worthington. Are you from Cbus? It would be so ironic if I went back there. I'm not thrilled about it, but Cbus will always have a place in my heart.
  3. I got into OSU! It'll be nice going to prospective students weekend, too, since i"m from Columbus and it'll be an excuse to see my folks.
  4. Congrats! May I ask: Has your online status changed at all?
  5. Dude, I didn't apply to WI, but please on g-d's green earth never trust your emotional health to the post service, FEDEX, ups or anything having to do with a mail box. If it doesn't come tomorrow, it means nothing.
  6. jeez, i really wish i had applied to UIUC, wisconsin, UCLA, or Rochester just so I would have freagin heard something by freagin now.
  7. yaaaaaay congrats!
  8. Where did you get into? We like to vicariously through other gradcafe peeps.
  9. I am getting super impatient with Ohio State! Does anyone with more balls than me wanna call them and ask what their status is?
  10. This is all swell that people have inside information and results are coming out and everything. But could you PLEASE make it about a school I applied to! I. am. going. insane. with. anticipation.
  11. Yeah got mine fixed pretty quickly. I wish I would hear something...
  12. My OSU account has been disabled for some reason. wtf? This is discouraging. Could it be because my obsessive account checking?
  13. I went to the University of Chicago undergrad. Have some mixed feelings about it, but I can't imagine a better or more rigorous academic experience. Couldn't spend another 7 years there doing a PhD, but I did apply for CIR. Feel free to message me if you have any questions about UChicago or Hyde Park in general.
  14. sounds the same as 'evaluation' to me. The irony is I will be visiting my parents in Columbus, OH this weekend. I wish my dad, who is a prof there (math), knew somebody in the poli sci department who could peek into my application and give me a wink or a nod.
  15. weird, now my OSU status says academic review too. what does that even mean?
  16. Thanks, let's hope one is gracious enough to accept me. I only need one!!
  17. Mine still says, under evaluation: "Your application is currently in the process of being evaluated and prepared for an academic decision." Ugh, I'm really looking forward to the weekend when I don't have to think about this shit.
  18. I'm curious what this means too. Mine still says "evaluation" as well. What does it say below that?
  19. Congrats, jackassjim! woooo first acceptance in our little overly-obsessive political science grad school applicant community!
  20. Well, I guess I'm glad that responses have started coming out, I just wish they would come my way!
  21. Care to elaborate which schools these are? Does it rhyme with Shmarvard or Flale? Merkeley? Thlanford?
  22. I wouldn't rule it out. People heard back last year from OSU beginning Jan 28th I think. I applied there so I'm pretty nervous, and sick of waiting.
  23. I applied to 9 phD programs, but I also applied to Uchicago's CIR (masters internaitonal relations) kind of for the hell of it. I also checked the box on the columbia's poli sci app to be considered for the masters program if my phD app was rejected. I think masters notifications come out later than PhDs, cause they have to look at all the rejected PhD applications. Probably March. Good luck!
  24. I would guess, but I know for sure that Mark Hanson, dean of the social science division cut all funding for masters students in the social science division. Ha, I applied for U of C CIR program thinking I had a chance to get funded, but guess that was a waste of time!
  25. I'm pretty sure it usually varies by division. So the social science division at the UC, and most of its peers would not accept a student without funding. I'm willing to bet this is true for the top 10-15 political science programs, and the division in which they are placed. I know Harvard/Yale/Princeton have similar policies within their social science and humanities divisions that they do not accept students without funding them. I would be really surprised to get into one of the top 10 programs without funding. What
