I think those really top schools e.g. MIT and Berkley don't care if you have low verbal. But to get in into these top schools, I heard that I need to have research paper.
In US news website, if you look down the list (computer sci.) from rank 11 downwards, most of them says that they need verbal score: 153.
I tried to ask professors to do research with to get a good recommendation but nobody took me.
So that's why I couldn't get a good recommendation. I am sorry about this.
I am worried about applying to phd for computer science.
My verbal: 149
My quantitative: 163
My writing: 4.0
I would like to apply to best schools as possible but the school websites say they want verbal score: "153".
I don't have research experience. I worked 3 years as Java programmer.
I will graduate from USC (master of computer science) soon. My current GPA is 3.83.
(Suppose I look at US news ranking for computer sci.) Even if I look at schools from rank 11 downwards, they
say minimum GRE verbal should be "153" to be considered in their program.
Should I still apply for these schools which say we need "153" for verbal? I have a feeling that just about every good schools have this requirement.
(My recommendation is average.)
Thanks for your help.
I am planning to apply in UCLA's computer science (phd). I am doing my master of computer science now.
While I am doing my master, I have trouble finding professors to do research with because they are not free.
Research is not required for my master but I heard it helps with phd application a lot.
Will UCLA still accept me? I will try to get around 500 for GRE verbal score. What should I do to help with my application?
Thanks.
I am planning to apply for phd computer science. I won't be doing research because I think I can't find any professor who would like to do research with me. I would like to get into as best school as possible. What should I do? I will try to get as many scores on GRE general test and GRE computer science subject test as possible.
Thanks for your advice.
I am planning to apply phd computer science. I will graduate with master of CS soon.
Will taking Math GRE subject test really help for this application?
My idea is that because I will have master of CS, by taking Math GRE subject test => it can show that I have really strong math skill.
I am planning to apply phd for computer science.
From a professor, how many recommendation letters can you ask him to write? (If you ask too many, he will say no.)
How many different school should I apply? What is the average number of different applications a person submit for phd?
Thanks.
I am planning to apply for computer science phd this Dec.
I would like to know what is the best website that tells me these info for each school:
-% of admitted applicants to submitted applicants
-number of students admitted
-total number of applicants
-average GRE score for admitted applicants
I don't mind paying money to get these info.
Thanks.
I would like to get into phd of discrete maths and combinatorial.
Now I am doing master of computer science. I didn't take any math courses for this master. I took one course in algorithm for computer science.
It will take one more year to graduate.
What should I do to get into the best math school?
Because I have a master in computer science, do I have a chance of getting in or very little chance?
I think taking maths gre exam will help me with my application.
I don't mind doing self study of math textbooks but how to show that I am competent in maths?
Thanks a lot.
I am currently Master of Computer Science student at USC (University of Southern California). I will start my first semester at Fall 2010. I am considering switching to Master of Applied Maths (Discrete Maths) at beginning of Spring 2010 semester. I have Bachelor of Computer Engineering. The reason for switching is that I am not really good with computer and I think I am better at maths.
How do I know I am suitable for Master of Applied Maths?
Should I take GRE math subject test to find suitablity with maths?
Should I take math course to find suitablity with maths?
