  1. I've been told by supervisors to only include 'in progress' manuscripts on your CV/applications if they've actually been submitted to a journal for review, or if they've been provisionally accepted etc, and then you can say that they are 'under review' at a journal. I guess technically anyone can just make up a title and authors etc and say that a manuscript is 'in progress' just to have it on their CV with no intent to publish or no evidence that it will be publishable, so I think if you can say that it's been submitted to a journal that makes it a bit more legit.
  2. Hi everyone, Another question - do you know if CGS-M applications show your application history when they get sent to the schools for review? i.e. if I submit the exact same proposal as last year, will anyone know? ? Due to a lot of circumstances I don't have time to write a new one that would be as good quality as last years (even though my application from last year is less applicable to the supervisors I'm applying to this year)... but I worry if they can see the same title two years in a row, etc, it might reflect badly or look lazy. Anyone have any insight/supervisors, friends, etc with insight into how the applications are received by the schools?
  3. Hi all! I applied to McGill a couple of years ago when they required the GRE, and I think my scores are still connected to my application profile. Has anyone who applied previously had them taken off? (If yes, who did you email? The psyc admin says it has nothing to do with them!) / Is it bad to make a second application account with a different email, so that the scores aren't connected anymore? I don't think they do anything to help my application, so I don't want them to be included.
  4. Thank you very much for your advice, I'll make a note for when I apply. I'm sorry to hear about your dad as well - it is really hard ❤️
  5. Thank you @bubble_psych for the suggestions, the pomodoro method looks like it could be quite helpful! Yeah, I think I probably will end up taking another year off from applying, I just really don't want to... I'm 28 and have already taken time away from applying to do these additional classes and have been working in research for a few years now and just really want to move onto a PhD as I've been working towards this for a few years now. Being here for my family is of course more important to me right now, but I just feel like I am so close to being done and ready that it's a shame to have to wait again for a whole year.
  6. Hi, I'm hoping to apply to clinical psych programs in Canada this year (not my first time) and I'm familiar with the process generally, I know roughly what schools I'm interested in (depending on which supervisors will be taking students, etc) but currently my life has kind of turned upside down because my dad was diagnosed with advanced cancer in April. I'm now back living at home with my parents to help them manage appointments, medications, etc all while working remotely. The main issue is I'm in the middle of making up some credits with distance learning before the next application cycle, but I just don't have time/mental capacity to work on reading, tests, assignments, etc. on top of work and my new responsibilities at home. I really need these credits for my application to be considered, but we're halfway through June now and I'm really worried I won't be able to be able to finish all of the classes I'm taking before applications are due. I'm also hoping Canadian schools won't re-introduce the GRE this year, because I would need to re-write it and I can definitely not handle that in the next few months. Has anyone been in this situation? Did you mention it in your application that you had caring responsibilities? Any advice on trying to get extra work done when you have no time/mental energy? I know it feels like application season is a long time away, but I didn't have much time to work on my classes to begin with, and my situation isn't going to be getting better any time soon. Sorry this is partly a rant to vent my fears about not getting in (again) and not being prepared, but I would genuinely appreciate any advice on juggling everything, and on the application process if you have any insight. Thanks!
