Going to RISD's Digital Media program... BURSTING WITH JOY!!!!!! Anyone else going?

Hi, What do you think is better for New Genres: CMU or RISD? I have to decide between the two and it is being awfully hard... any help would be appreciated!

same problem here.... and i've got until April 1st to decide because of CMU's financial offer. It's a very tough decision!

It is quite informal, but I had the interview today (for de D+M program) and at the end they told me "Welcome to RISD!". Awaiting funding information now, hopefully before April 1st, to choose between CMU and RISD.... I am so tired of thinking and speaking of graduate school every day for the last year or so, it will be such a relief to finally get into it!

Yes I think the same about notifications.... Well, I guess I'll ask RISD at the interview, and if it doesn't go allright I'll sign for CMU and a heart shaped box.

Well, my heart is on my girlfriend and a three year MFA might be too much for her. Funding is also an important issue, so if risd said 'all right come on in with 50%' i would say RISD, but it would still be a difficult choice!

I just received a letter from CMU, offering me an assistanship and a very important tuition discount. Problem is, In order to get these benefits I have to accept their acceptance letter by April 1st and neither CalArts nor UCSD have made offered any funding yet. To complicate further complicate things, I have the RISD D+M interview tomorrow and I seriously doubt that they will have made their selection before April 1st! Any advice?

Yes. They sent me an automatic letter telling me that "there was a change in my status" and giving me a link. Once there I downloaded the rejection letter. Anyway, it is for the New Genres program.

I've just received a rejection letter from UCLA. New Media program. Hope it helps.

Last update: I've just received a phone call from CMU offering me a position in their MFA program. What do you guys think about CMU? Good luck to all!

Well... funding is a big issue. Besides that, I would like a small program (student-wise)... but it is a difficult choice indeed, I am leaning towards deciding between CMU, CalArts and UCSD. On the other hand, SAIC has an enormous reputation, but right now I am not filling like it has as much potential as the other programs in the New Media area. I would surely appreciate some feedback on this.

updating. I just received an admission letter from UCSD! they were very kind, and a couple of professors also attached specific comments about the application. So it wasn't a generic "welcome to the league of extraordinary gentlemans" letter of acceptance. Has anyone heard about RISD or MIT's ACT program?

SFAI seems cool, during the interview I was told that they are planning a huge investment in modernizing their facilities. Regarding Columbia: I haven't heard anything either, so perhaps that ship has indeed sailed. Good luck!

Hi! Just updating, i got. admitted into SAIC art and technology program, good luck to everyone!

I applied to the Art and Technology MFA. The interview, well, they asked me about a specific piece of work in my portfolio, I explained it involving the critical aspects of it (labour and politics...), and then he told me more stuff about CalArts, the program and other professors I could meet at there. It was really nice and I felt very relaxed. Thanks for the good luck, and good luck for you too!

OK, I don't know how i got into a page of CMU's SlideRoom that said "final round" regarding my application (browser glitch?), but I suppose we are doing good over there. As for other programs, Rensselaer just sent an acceptance letter (email) and my interview with CalArts wen't along VERY nicely. Haven't heard from SFAI after their interview... I honestly didn't think that I would get this far into the admission process!..... I'm so glad! As for SAIC's Art&Tech program, RISD Digital+Media, MIT's ACT, NYU's ITP, UCSD, Columbia and SVA Computer Arts... I haven't heard anything. I hope you guys are doing allright wherever you are, and I am grateful for the information and support that you have provided in this forum.
