  1. Declined my spots at UVA (English), UMich (English), and UPenn (Complit). Good luck and hopefully there will be movements in the upcoming days
  2. Hi, postcolonialist here. Turned down Rutgers two days ago.
  3. I emailed Professor Siraj Ahmed (who quickly replied) and I also turned down my offer via the portal. Not sure about their turnaround time but I hope you finally get in!
  4. Thank you! Yes, I was accepted at Rutgers as well; going to decline their offer later this month. Will keep you informed of the process
  5. Thank you! Haven’t yet; will be choosing among Princeton (complit), Penn (complit), and UMich (English). Right now I’m leaning toward Princeton but will still attend open houses for all three to gauge the departmental fit.
  6. Turned down my offers at UW-Madison and CUNY today.
  7. These are really great questions! To add onto that: 5) the placement record for my subfield in recent years 6) the average cohort size for the PhD program 7) (if you already have an MA) is it possible to transfer some credits from my previous degree? 8 Are there any graduate certificates/research centers/reading groups relevant to my interests?
  8. Hi all! I just emailed to take myself off of UMD's waitlist. Hope this helps someone else out!
  9. Still waiting on Penn complit (interviewed with them two days ago) but will likely commit to Princeton, as my dream supervisor is there
  10. @Shake829 Thanks! Thought it was a long shot but really glad it worked out
  11. I'm in at Princeton complit!!! Received an email from the chair and still couldn't believe it's true...
  12. Just declined my offers at UC Santa Cruz (Literature) and University of Pittsburgh. My subfield is postcolonial studies. Hopefully there'll be some movements at those places!
  13. Thanks! I have several offers at hand so the rejection doesn't really sting. Hope you get some good news from them!
  14. Hi there, I interviewed with them in late Jan as well and got rejected 2 days ago (an informal email from the DGS; unfortunately she had Omicron so the admission process has been slowed down). I might be wrong, but my impression is that all the acceptances and rejections have gone out at this point. If you haven't heard anything from them, then you're probably on a waitlist. It never hurts to email the DGS or the grad program coordinator to confirm. Gook luck!
  15. Has anyone here heard from Michigan Ann Arbor (English Language and Literature track)?
  16. Someone just posted that they were waitlisted at UCLA on Feb 8...Sensing a rejection for me at this point
  17. I'm wondering the same thing! They are my top choice this cycle...On the result board there's one single acceptance posted on Feb 5; apart from that I've heard nothing
  18. @Submarina Also, do you have any idea how many people JHU accepted this year? My sense is that they tend to have very small cohorts.
  19. Thank you! Cornell AND Johns Hopkins! I believe your application package must be particularly strong?. Congrats!!
  20. @medievalpeasant Yes, I got the email a few hours ago. Hope you have good news soon!
  21. @medievalpeasantI just received an email from the DGS telling me that I'm waitlisted...
  22. @Submarina I submitted my application in early December, approximately a month before CUNY's deadline. Huge congratulations on your Cornell acceptance!
  23. @plainblacktights Thanks! It does seem that CUNY's complit is conducting interviews...hope you get an invitation soon!
  24. By the way, can anyone here claim the UCLA English acceptance on the result board (added on Feb 5)? They are my dream school and I'm super nervous right now.
  25. @plainblacktightsHi there, I'm the CUNY English acceptee on the board. Yesterday I received an informal email from my POI at CUNY and they said that I'll receive officlal letters of acceptance and funding information in the coming days. My subfield is postcolonial studies, if that's helpful. To be honest, I didn't expect to hear from them this early; I think historically they release results around mid-February, so don't give up hope just yet! I know nothing about their complit program though. Fingers crossed for you!
