Also, I have research ideas regarding several ethnic groups. Is is true that I should focus on only one of them in my writing?

I have been writing my statement of purpose for PhD, and the instruction of the uni I am applying says that I need include how I want to address the anthropological questions that interest me. So I wonder about writing this part e.g. how specific should write. Can anyone provide me with any examples? Thanks.
