  1. In a COVID-19 world, I am curious to know how feasible it is to complete a PhD in Politics remotely. For example, let's say you're a Columbia student and you need to live about three hours by train upstate. You only come in when needed and every so often. Rest is done from home. How possible do you think this is at top institutions?
  2. Hello everyone! I know academia is a gamble but I was hoping to get some insight. I am particularly focused on Afghanistan and International Political Economy. Could anyone give me more insight at the higher potential after getting a PhD from Georgetown, George Mason George Washington or American University in the Comparative Politics/International Relations field? Honestly I would be happy if I obtained an assistant professor position at one of those four universities after completing the PhD. Again, definitely know it is a gamble to bet on location but thought I'd ask anyways. Thank you!
  3. Hello! I want to pursue a PhD in Comparative Politics. However, I have a Bachelor's in Biology and a Master's of Social Work from the UK. I only have one recommender, my Master's supervisor. Obviously I need experience in Poli Sci research and actually build relationships with US PoliSci professors before I can even consider applying for a PhD. Any advice how to go about this? I have been working as a social worker on the East Coast for several years now and have no connections here. Should I... Cold email professors offering to be a volunteer research assistant? Take courses like at Harvard Extension? Should I do another master's here? Most expensive option ofc... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
