  1. My MPA offer didn't mention funding either. Anyone happen to know of any Facebook pages specific to grad student housing?
  2. They didn't provide specific dates for orientation week, but they said it will likely be the first week of September. Hope this helps!
  3. I attended the Zoom session for Queen's. In the session, they went over info like field trips, courses available, degree options (courses only, thesis, or research project), international exchange opportunities, the international award program, costs of Kingston housing, some key queen's facebook groups, orientation week, conferences, and events put on by the academic society for planning. Hope this helps!
  4. My portal has a "view decision" option that links to my offer letter. It's been there since the day of my acceptance email. Might be worth calling otherwise you can't click on decline or accept. Or ask online on the 23rd.
  5. Excellent to hear they have an orientation week. Imho, planning schools in particular should be selling themselves on community:)
  6. Congratulations on offer and great $!! Got an email from Waterloo over a week ago that said they were starting to review application but no word yet. When did you hear? expected they'd be more generous than Queen's but there's little info on their program. Heard the master's courses are cross-listed with undergrad planning courses. Also Queen's has an orientation week, field trips etc. Also no clue how many master students Waterloo has in planning. Maybe I missed an info session but not aware they had one of those either.... An idea of how program compares to Queen's?
  7. Congrats!!! The email I received re: funding guaranteed a minimum funding amount. Any intel on when we'll know if we get more than that minimum?
  8. Heading to Queen's, but not sure whether to accept M Plan or MPA there.
  9. Yay! Admissions rolling at Queen's. Received email offer about an hour ago. No mention of funding. Does anyone know if SURP typically offers any $?
  10. Hang in there bec it's early days for MPA/P/S offers in Canada. Also, if anyone is wishing they applied to more schools: the deadline for Dalhousie hasn't passed yet. Chance to experience east coast lifestyle.
  11. In at Queen's MPA. Advised via email a few min ago. Thrilled!!!!!! Stats: L2 gpa 3.8-3.9/4.33; student leadership roles for ECs; 3 interesting co-op jobs but not policy related
  12. A big thanks for sharing all this!! And again: congrats!!!
  13. Much appreciated! It's great for all those still waiting to get some insight on where we stand on gpa & ECs. Good luck on your other pending decisions too!
  14. Awesome stats! I'll have to wait and hope for the cheap seats:) Congrats again!
  15. Congratulations!!! Thx for sharing your stats too. Mind if I ask if 3.9 is L2 or cumulative, and if coming straight from undergrad?
  16. Ditto. Queen's encourages people to apply early and says they have rolling admissions. But their application opened in the fall and I'm not sure if even one admit has gone out yet, so I don't see how they're rolling. Anyone hear from Queen's, Waterloo or U of T?
  17. Anyone hear from Queen's or Waterloo yet? No change in application status here so far. Or any word on when offers will start (if they haven't already)?
  18. Thanks for your reply! Speaking as someone who'd be happy in either the hands on or the bigger picture role: which one do you think has more job openings?
  19. Wondering the same thing here: trying to decide between a masters in planning versus master of public policy/admin. As you indicated, seems to be some overlap in these fields. I've noticed at some schools mpp/mpa is one year but the planning degrees (at least straight from undergrad) are always two years. Not sure if these means planning is a more valuable degree or just a more expensive/time consuming one. Did you ever get any opinions elsewhere on which might have better job/career prospects? Or which program is harder to get into? Due to good GPA, would probably prefer the degree that's more competitive to get an admissions offer, on the theory it might make the degree more valuable. But really have no idea. Any insight would be great! .
