Questions to ask PsyD faculty about their research

Hello! Was wondering if you emailed faculty ahead of time to meet with them? I'm hoping to apply for PsyD programs in the future but I'm still not sure if it's as important to reach out to professors as you would when applying to PhD programs. (A bit lost as I'm an international student)
