  1. Hi guys, After getting a rejection from even from UMich's Masters program, I decided I might as well mentally just end my application cycle here. I do still have 4 schools to hear back from, but those would be my way-way-out-of-my-league reach schools, so I'll be sparing myself the wishful thinking. It doesn't look like it's going to be the year I enroll in a PhD program, after all. So I wanted to see if any of the applicants who got admissions this cycle would be willing to have a chat with me about their applications; profiles, stats, publications, SOPs, rec letters, reaching out to professors. I'm pretty sure I might have missed a few things, so it would be super cool if someone would be willing to have a casual chat about their process, because I'm so going to be doing this again next year.
  2. Hi guys, For anyone still waiting on NU, the Graduate Director emailed me that they'll send out 'official responses' soon but we were right to assume that the pending ones would be 'soft rejections'. lol.
  3. Is UCSB really still going to just begin interviews in Feb? I think I've read this in the forum somewhere. I've yet to get a single acceptance and I could so easily start to freak out now. lol. Cograts to all those who got in somewhere, tho! Well done!
  4. Yep. Its so testing. I think I'm going to start working on my application for next year already lol.
  5. God, i feel the same way too. i got a waitlist from a school i was led to beleive im already into. I had 3 meetings with 3 different professors, who all expressed alot of interest in my research agenda and that they could all be a right fit for advisors. I was already at a stage where the lead graduate director was trying to convince me of the appeal of the city and to try to bump their program to the top of my list. I was so excited tbh because the chemistry was so right. Suddenly i was waitlisted there and rejected from uofchicago and referred to the cir program. God, i dont need a third masters, i just want to do my research. (Yes im the person who ranted about that earlier on the results submission ?) im already a research fellow at two thinks tanks, and a contributor at an ir magazine while balancing my corporate job. all my mental energy is going into not thinking: what am i doing wrong??
  6. For UofArizona did you interview for the Political science program or public administration? It looks like UofA has a high ratio of international PhD students, as opposed to some other universities. Otherwise has anyone tried getting in touch with UCSB, Northwestern or Michigan to find out when they might release decisions? Sigh. I can't do this all over again in a year.
  7. I got in touch with the Graduate coordinator a week ago at Maryland, college park and she said that decisions are scheduled for release early Feb. And I'm also waiting on decisions from UCSB and Michigan, so I guess no the decisions haven't been made yet. @DanTheGrad
  8. Hi guys, has anyone applied to the university of Arizona? Also, what do you guys think of it in general? Reading all that I've been reading on the forum here, I've concluded that my chances aren't as strong as I had originally thought at the onset of the application season. The UofA sounds the most likely from all the places I applied. And I'm finding myself reaallly hoping to get in So it would come down to: do you take an offer from a university that was at the end of your list or do you wait a year, do really well on the GRE, publish a bit more and then reapply to a 'higher ranked' university? Sometimes I feel like that's a simply recipe for loss of momentum, a string of nonsense jobs that you're hoping to leave, an entire year of anxiety and absolutely no guarantees that you'll be a 'better applicant' the year after. Idk, what do you guys think?
  9. Has anyone heard back yet? I'm getting unbelievably nervous with all the other fields posting their results every few seconds.
  10. Thanks, that was helpful
  11. Hi guys, does anyone know what the expected results timeline is for the programs they applied for?
