  1. Decided to decline my Columbia offer - the cost just isn’t worth it to me. Hope it frees up a spot for someone on the waitlist! That’s the end of my journey here. Good luck to everyone!
  2. Time to make a difficult decision. I'd love to live in NYC for a couple of years and get my master's from an Ivy League school, but UVA is offering me a partial scholarship and it would only be a year-long program since I did my undergrad there.
  3. In at Columbia! No email, I just happened to check the portal. No funding, sadly.
  4. Nope, but based on last year's admissions cycle I expect to hear from them tomorrow. Was your interview for the Masters or PhD program?
  5. Out at MIT - just got a nicely worded, generic rejection email. Didn’t expect to get it in at all but it still stings a bit. Congrats to everyone who made it.
  6. Wow, that's incredible! Congrats! I'm assuming you got a phone call?
  7. There are so many well-qualified applicants in this thread, the competition for GSD this year must have been insane!
  8. Amazing, congrats! Sounds like they've been calling accepted applicants over the past couple of days. Interesting that they're not doing it all at once.
  9. Out at Harvard (no surprise there), in at UVA with $7500 scholarship!
  10. Looks like someone reported receiving a text message of admission from Harvard today - did anyone else get this? Just checked the portal and I don't see any update.
  11. Looks like they notified everyone on March 11th for Fall 2021 admissions: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/?per_page=20&q=&institution=University+of+California%2C+Los+Angeles&program=&degree=Masters&season=F21&page=10
  12. Feeling the same. I really need to stop checking the portals every day!
  13. I don't remember there being an optional essay. I think I just submitted the personal statement.
  14. I submitted my MIT application last week! It would be an absolute dream to attend, but I have zero expectations. Good luck to anyone else who applied!
  15. Hi everyone! Excited to wait for results with y'all. I'm an older student making a career change. I didn't go to college after graduating from high school in 2006. Instead, I went into retail management for many years. I started working towards my associate degree at a local community college in 2016 while working full-time, and I ended up quitting my job and transferring to a top-5 public university to study planning in Spring 2020. My undergrad school has a 1-year urban planning master's program that I'm eligible for direct admission to, which is most likely what I'll end up doing. However, I also decided to apply to a few Ivy League schools just to see what happens. Age/Gender/Citizenship 33/M/US Undergraduate degree/School/Year graduated Bachelor of Urban Planning / top-5 public university / 2022 (first-generation student) Associate Degree, Social Sciences / Local Community College / 2019 GPA - GRE - TOEFL (for Int'l students) 3.9 (bachelor) / 3.9 (associate) / no GRE Work Experience: 6 months at a planning & engineering consulting firm (currently employed); 1.5 years with an economic development organization; 8+ years in retail management. I also volunteer with a local refugee resettlement nonprofit as a public transportation trainer. Research experience: I worked with the chair of the planning department as part of an independent study course on the Federal Opportunity Zone tax incentive program. Letter of recommendations: (from whom) Three letters from professors. I've taken at least two classes with each of them. I work with one of the professors at my internship, and one of the other professors is the Assistant Dean of Students. Schools applied to: MIT, Harvard, Columbia, undergrad alma mater (direct admission) In: Undergrad alma mater (direct admission) Out: Wait-list: Awaiting: MIT, Harvard, Columbia Results:
