I've also found this to be true, the older we are, I guess the less likely it is we'll get into schools which is very frustrating. One of the programs that I got into is T50, and I'm wondering if it's even worth it to pursue, since eventually I would like to be a professor at an undergraduate institution (vs. for example, going into policy/politics). But I can't imagine doing this again for the 4th time!

Hi all -- I reached out to Georgetown again where I have a lot of contacts and got a response from the admissions director that said that if we haven't heard yet, it's likely not good news. Apparently they got 700 applications for 8 funded PhD positions, which seems like an extreme amount? Just thought I would update everyone! Sorry I don't have better news.

George Mason decisions are in! No email, just randomly checked the portal.

Agree with this here in the states -- additionally, most of my professors had political science PhDs, so I actually do think it correlates well!

Fellow lawyer here! Also bad at math. Don't really get it re: admissions, since law school is essentially school for politics... but what do I know!

Also waiting on Georgetown, and at this point, quite frustrated. This is my third cycle applying there -- I've worked there/gone to school there for the past 7 years, TA for free for law school classes, and have a professor that wants to work with me within the program. I don't know what else I can do! lol Definitely at the 2nd stage of grief for this cycle with the anger and annoyance. Glad I have all of you guys here going through the same emotions as me!

I'm waiting on Georgetown. I really wouldn't assume it's a reject from there -- I reached out to a PoI last week, and was referred to the head of admissions for the program. They JUST met for the first time on Friday (only a week ago), and said they are working through the recommendations for admission, etc.. I would guess that takes a good amount of time.

Question for those of you who have made it into your dream schools. First of all, congratulations! It's so great to know that there are colleagues are getting in places, and that we can (hopefully) do that too! So a lot of you have said that you worked really hard on refining your statement of purpose. Did you work with professors in the field to do that, or have some sort of service review it? I feel as though it's difficult (at least for me) to refine my SoP, since most of the people that I have looking at it aren't scholars or in the field specifically. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! As we're waiting to hear back from a lot of schools over the next few weeks, feeling like I'm at least doing SOMETHING to make my application package more competitive will (hopefully) help my mental wellbeing lol

Is the results page down for anyone else? I feel like it's a sign from God that I shouldn't even look at it anymore, and should just stick with hearing from you guys haha

We got this week everybody! Sending out good vibes to all

Just reached out to my PoI at Georgetown, who referred me to the admissions director. It sounds like the admissions committee met today, and they're slowly rolling out decisions. I wouldn't lose hope if you haven't heard from Georgetown yet. Here's his response: [to me], Thanks for writing. The admissions committee met today, and we are currently working through their recommendations. We expect to have answers to most applicants within the next few weeks. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions. Ciao, [admissions director]

Hi all, I know I don't post a lot on here, but after somewhat slow week (congrats to all those who did get in places, however!), I just wanted to reiterate how much I appreciate this group. This is my third (!!!!!) cycle applying, and my second cycle having found this, and the amount of support I've gotten from this group has made the last two cycles sooo much easier to deal with. Applying to PhD's is a really really unique, anxiety-inducing experience that not a lot of people (in the world!) have had to do, and it's so nice to have found such a supportive group going through the same thing. Sorry to get sappy on all of ya'll, but wanted to reach out and say THANK YOU and hopefully uplift those of you who aren't feeling great after this week, and give the extra boost to those of you who got in places. Just all of you being here has made at least one person (me) feel better about the place that I'm in. None of us are in this alone, and regardless of this cycle, I truly believe that we'll all achieve our academic goals--at least at some point! lol

Also wondering about this!

This is so weird -- has anyone not heard back from Princeton yet? I haven't gotten an email and there's no update to my portal. I saw in past years that rejections may come out on certain days? so confused.

Anyone claiming the Princeton rejections? I've been refreshing my page and haven't seen anything yet. Expecting to get rejected, but still want to confirm these are legit!
