Does anyone else’s Dal portal show they have none of your documents? I submitted everything and got confirmation from my referees. I’m confused 😅 -

From what I know Western is the only school that gives you any indication as to where you are on the waitlist. If you email and inquire they will give you a “quadrant” which basically tells you if you’re in the first, second, third, or fourth quarter of the list. I don’t know how many people are in each quarter but from past years I have seen people in the 1st and 2nd get off the waitlist but I have not seen anything about people getting off the waitlist if they’re in the 3rd or 4th. -

I got a rejection email from Western at 00:35 by email (I was 3rd quadrant waitlisted last year, but they had about 50 more applicants this year). Waitlist offer via email from Toronto at 5:14 this morning. Nothing showing on my ORPAS still. I am pretty sure I am going to accept my offer to UofA and would love to connect with anyone else going there! -

@PeachesSpeech Under choices/offers, nothing there yet for me though. I was waitlisted at western last year and it never updated in ORPAS, not sure why it does for some and not others. -

Congrats to those who got acceptances! Wondering if your portal is updated or still showing as in review? -

Anyone else’s McGill portal only letting you see the application management page right now? Maybe this means they are updating decisions? 👀 -

I’ll try to be as informative as I can 😅 My GPA is 3.77, and I scored 3rd quadrant on the Casper test. This is my 4th year applying to SLP and 2nd year applying to Alberta. I think what pushed my application further this year was I really tried to diversify my clinical/volunteer experience. I have about 60ish hours total, I gained about 20 since last application cycle. Prior to this year I only had volunteer experience working with kids (articulation and motor speech stuff), but this year I reached out to my local hospital and home care SLPs so I got to see them working with stroke patients, older populations with dementia, swallowing disorders, aphasias, apraxia’s, etc. I really pulled on that experience in my letter. I speak English and French, and over the past year I also began learning American sign language (used the app Lingvano, highly recommend) I figured it could be a useful tool as an SLP and I spoke to that in my letter as well. Currently Alberta is my top choice, but waiting to hear from McGill and Dal 🤞 Let me know if you have any other questions! Happy to help! -

Hey, A little confused about the statement of intent for UofT, hoping someone can help. On their website it says; Statement of Intent All applicants must complete a Statement of Intent and there are two components to the Statement of Intent. The first section should be a maximum of 3,000 characters (this incudes spaces) and should address the following topics, in particular the first four items: Outline reasons for choosing speech‑language pathology as a career; Highlight specific personal attributes that would be relevant for the profession; Emphasize academic and non‑academic accomplishments; Outline reasons for choosing the MHSc program in speech‑language pathology at the University of Toronto; and Demonstrate current knowledge about the profession of speech‑language pathology. Applicants may also wish to use this statement to explain irregularities in their application and to outline any research experiences. The second section of the Statement of Intent is a summary of volunteer experiences and should list: Volunteer experiences in the field of speech‑language pathology and/or audiology in point form, including dates, duration, total hours, populations, and the nature of activities in which the applicant participated; and Other relevant volunteer experiences, including dates, duration, populations, and activities. HOWEVER, when you open ORPAS there is no mention of the second section AND they only allow 3000 characters. So should I just answer the first section? I do not see anywhere to add the second section. -

Hi hoping someone can help me out. So I did not get in, 3rd year in a row. 😕 I want to start applying abroad (mainly thinking Europe, but open to any English-speaking country). I don't even know where to start, are there any resources that walk you through the process? Also, is there any barriers when doing your schooling outside of Canada and then coming back to Canada to work? Any insight into applying abroad is super appreciated! -

Does anyone know McGill’s usual response time for emails? I asked about my waitlist position and have gotten no response back. Should I call? Has anyone else asked?? -

First of all congrats to everyone who got acceptances! I was waitlisted at UofT and Western. I found it odd that Western stated there would be zero information about where we sit on the waitlist as historically they have shared quadrant information. Is anyone else super suspicious of why none of these schools share waitlist information? My theory (and please tell me if you think I’m insane) is that they have “quotas” and essentially there isn’t much of an order to the waitlist. If their (for example) bisexual applicant accepts somewhere else, they contact their “next in line” bisexual applicant, etc. It just makes zero sense to me why they can’t share our position on the waitlist, how many people they waitlist, or really anything in regards to waitlist. Plus all that information they had us input about gender, sexual identity, nationality, etc doesn’t make me any less suspicious. 😅 -

Not sure what order they are sending these out in, but I got a rejection (no waitlist) yesterday as everyone started getting their acceptances. Disappointed, but at least they've actually given an answer. Mine came from mscslp@ualberta.com -

YEP! I am in the same position, I have to accept an offer for a 12 month contract by the end of this week and would feel terrible having to tell them I am leaving, likely so soon after I would start the job too. Fingers and toes crossed we get some good news this week!
