  1. My BSc is in Biology, mostly molecular. There are only 2 obligatory courses that touch upon computational science, but I took about 30 more credits worth of CS-related courses. However, most of them are focused on applications in life sciences instead of general theory and applications... other than that, most of my CS knowledge actually comes from self-study ? I know I'll have to take 1 or 2 courses from CS BSc in my first year to compensate for the missing profile components from Biology. What about you?
  2. hmmmmm unless you're an internal student or from EPFL, you should definitely expect to be interviewed before the end of March. How long has it been at "ESOP-requested"?
  3. Congrats!!! Happy to see you join us soon ESOP-requested means that the interview committe decided that your proposal is worthy of being forwarded to the main body that will choose who will get the ESOP. You'll know at the end of March.
  4. I'm pretty sure they count the working weeks only, as there were 2 weeks or so of Christmas/NY holiday...
  5. I am also an anxious email/portal checker and I checked both at least once an hour for the past couple weeks. As there was no point where I "caught the decision early", it seems to be that the change in application status prompts the release of the admissions email. I believe so because it's a noreply email that asks you to check app status when the decision has been made. The admissions office states that 8-10 weeks is the expected time between the application deadline and admissions decision. Today is week 10 (the deadline was on a Wednesday)! So you should receive the answer by the end of the week, otherwise I'm pretty sure you have the right to call them up to find out what's up. Also, the next Master's info event is on Monday and the people that evaluate the applications are definitely participating, so the evaluation of applications from the first window should be finished very soon...
  6. This is for the letter in paper form, as acceptance letters are also sent in paper form with an official signature. https://service.post.ch/vgkklp/info/informationen/ProdukteAnzeigen/ here you can find out approximately how many days it would take to get to you. Most likely it's at "Letter small goods" there. The global average is 1 week.
  7. Just got admitted to CBB! I hope that in September I'll get to know other CBB applicants here as coursemates ? Wishing all the best to those who are still waiting!
  8. From my coursemates I've heard that last year's decisions from D-BSSE were announced/sent in the 2nd half of March,. Maybe internal students have to wait longer? Hopefully not. I also believe that last year must've had fewer students applying because I know a few admitted ones, iternal and external, whose grades were way below the expected standard (4.5-4.75 rather than 5.25+/6 in the Swiss system) for that program. My average at the time of application was 5.27 (dipped slightly since then...) and my SoP is seemingly good, I also got a LoR from one of the CBB Master mentors... although LoRs aren't demanded from ETH applicants.
  9. Sorry for the very late answer, but nope, don't know a single one who received a letter for Biology, Biotechnology or CBB. Only heard that we might expect the answers in the second half of the month... 3-4 weeks of anxiety remain then ? I've noticedm though, that rejection mails seem to come before admission ones. There's a rare chance of being waitlisted.
  10. Not receiving an ESOP interview invitation doesn't mean you're rejected! Probably the case of admission without ESOP. It's possible that they'll just send the decision closer to the end of March...
  11. Heya, fellow applicant to CBB here, internal (ETH, Biology BSc student). No news at all regarding CBB. The Biology MSc ESOPs interviews are mostly through at this point (I know a few people who had interviews, all in the first half of February) although only a few responses have been given out overall. I've heard from previous years' admitted people that the D-BSSE (Biotech & CBB) admissions are among the last ones sent among all departments (also, BSSE programs are both joint ones, CBB is even triple uni so coordination might be a hassle), this would probably also affect their ESOP interview times...
  12. Hey all! Anyone here waiting for the admissions decision for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics? Also, if anyone's wondering about ESOP interviews for D-BIOL, the interview invitation can come just a few days before its scheduled date. Every department organizes their ESOP admissions independently, so experiences from different departments might not really apply to your cases (source: ETH students) I wish everyone here best of luck and success in studies!
