Yeah, that too! Congrats!
-
Soooooo speaking of Williams... Congrats to the admit!!! Care to share...?
-
Anyone else apply to Williams? I am getting so antsy, even though they sent out that email about their timeline.
-
From the FAQ section of the site: "When are new fellowship awards announced? The Department of Education must announce new awards by March 1 of the academic year proceeding the academic year for which the fellowship is awarded." UHHH, does this mean we should be hearing from them tomorrow...?
-
Also, art_hist_grad, were you the poster that mentioned being wait-listed at Penn? How did you find out...? I heard they weren't notifying people yet.
-
University of Minnesota
-
I am also interested in hearing about that, if you want to share.
-
"In person" Penn rejected went down at CAA...?
-
I'd say at this point the only safe thing to do is throw our assumptions out the window. Stay hopeful, I guess... Or call them in a couple of days...?
-
Penn has started notifications. I will not be able to focus on anything until I hear from them.
-
So it seems like if you don't get a response from them in early February... you are more than likely rejected, right? I think in the results section, no one got accepted or waitlisted after that Feb 9th date last year. But who knows.
-
I'm pretty annoyed with the fake results on the results page (i.e. Fake University and Jedi University). I wonder if this has happened in past years and if the moderators do something about it.
-
I just checked too and she said 2010. Whew! Good luck, everyone. I'm guessing we won't hear anything from them until the last week of February at the earliest...?
-
I shall! Here's hoping UW likes us.

Oh my GOD, I love that museum! I fell in love with Burri. (Ho studiato a firenze per sei mesi.) I heard the Baroque folk at Seattle are great. I'm doing nineteenth century though (and I'm forgetting all my Italian with the more french I learn, ugh.)
-
e It seems like such a crapshoot. I applied at UW too! Seattle is sweet. I never visited the campus per se, but I love the city and could totally get used to living there. Quale museo a roma?! What's your concentration? I wouldn't worry about your GRE. Your writing score is really good, so that definitely helps. At this point, if all your apps are in... all you can do is obsessively check this site (like me). In bocca al lupo!

The waiting game is just killing me. It's distracting me from schoolwork. I thought being busy this semester would help, but it's making me more anxious. I probably spend more time on this site than I ever have on facebook (or any other time-sucking website). P.S. Speaking of CAA, is anyone else going? I went last year and liked it so much that I'm going this year too. (Why not?)

Super late posting this, but I too received a confirmation email, on Nov. 4. When are we supposed to hear from them?
-
Hey stphneeawzum, I wouldn't stress it. I heard (and it might've also been mentioned in this forum) that sometimes it's better not to bother the profs with insignificant questions and to let your application speak for itself unless you have really specific research related questions for them. Also, (correct me if I'm wrong, guys) but I think most MA programs are a little more general in terms of your relationships with profs, therefore it's not AS necessary to speak to all the profs you want to work with... Whereas with PhD programs, you work closely with one or two advisors which is why most people contact them early on in regards to research and advising and the like.

Congrats to the GWU admit!
-
FYI to those who applied to UDel, a professor I spoke with recently there said that they generally notify applicants sometime in mid-March.
-
Any chance you'd want to say which school this is for?
-
Sounds like a plan, CriticalPlay. Also, I have a quick, general question - Say you email a professor about scheduling a meeting or something, and they respond with an unfortunate "no," do you respond with a "thanks for your response" type email? Or just leave it if you don't have much else to say? Email frightens me sometimes.

Hmm. This depends pretty heavily on your financial situation. I'd say, if you have the money and you really want to give it a shot, you should go for it. But if you don't, I would just stick with the internship you have. I did the whole summer internship in NYC thing (not MOMA though!) and it was sort of a nightmare. I'm from a really urban area so "big city life" wasn't foreign to me, but NYC was a pain. I paid out the nose for a crappy NYU dorm, and had the worst luck getting a paying summer job to supplement my unpaid internship. I think you would have the opportunity to network with some important people, but it might be more trouble than it's worth. Don't get me wrong, NYC is great, but you have to have everything figured out well ahead of time and it's hard to enjoy yourself there when you're broke. It's nice to say you worked in a city like new york and at a museum like MOMA but the quality of the actual internship might not be as great as the one you have. Like someone said above, a LOT of people intern there and sometimes you do end up just filing or making copies... Maybe it would be better to beef up your resume and connections with the internship you have and wait to do the NYC thing when you get a fellowship that pays something or gives you the opportunity to do some great research. Maybe you can call the person that offered you the internship and ask them EXACTLY what it entails and whether or not you'll get to do some good work. If you do end up going, and the internship is unpaid and you want to try to get a part-time job... I recommend telling retail/restaurant/cafe employers that you'll be around indefinitely. They'll be more likely to hire you... Good luck!
