  1. Hey! I applied for Lakehead MPH 2022. I was accepted in April for the nursing with nurse practitioner electives stream. which stream did you apply for? I wouldn’t give up hope yet! They do rolling acceptances and from previous years, it looks like some people were still accepted in June. Good luck!
  2. I was just accepted to the Lakehead MPH nursing specialization with nurse practitioner electives!!!! Good luck to everyone still waiting! ?
  3. My portal in the Lakehead application changed from “under department review” to just “submitted” now. Does this mean it’s been reviewed already? Has this happened to anyone else? Not sure if it’s a good or bad sign ?
  4. Congratulations!! I also applied to Lakehead MPH but a different specialization. Good to know that admissions are starting to go out. Did they send an email or was it on the portal?
  5. I feel you. It looks like a few people were accepted in May on last year’s forum though so I’m trying to hold onto hope!
  6. Over 600!!? Ahh I knew it would be competitive but wasn’t expecting that many. Sorry I’m not quite sure the breakdown of online vs in-person. They were kind of vague and only said the 50. I had asked about MPH NP spots specifically and they couldn’t tell me as it depends on availability of clinical placements.
  7. FYI I inquired about the number of spots in the Lakehead program and was told, “we accept up to 50 students across both our MHSc and MPH Programs”. I’m not sure if this is evenly split into each speciality or if some specialities have more spots. Please share if anyone has more insight ?
  8. Wow that’s awesome, you sound like a strong candidate! It’s so great to hear that you’ve found your passion in public health! If you ever decide to do your NP afterwards, you could always do a post-masters program ? there’s been more NPs working in a public health scope and that what I’m hoping to do. I have to get in first though haha. Yes mine also says “under department review”
  9. Thank you! I’m currently working in a Public Health Nurse role that focuses on Indigenous Communities in Northern Ontario. I’ve only been in this role for about a year and previously did remote nursing and acute care. I’m still casual in a rural hospital so I get a nice mix of skills. I did an accelerated BScN (2 years) and had a previous degree (BSc bio and psyc) before that, so I’m not sure how they’ll calculate my GPA. I did a lot of stats and research work in my previous degree, so I’m hoping that helps my application. How about you? ?
  10. I’ve also applied to the Lakehead MPH program! Nursing specialization with nurse practitioner electives. My application is under review still. I’m anxiously awaiting news haha. I haven’t been able to find too much about this stream online. I love the idea of the MPH NP combo and there aren’t too many other programs where you can do both in Canada (that I’ve seen). Good luck to both of you!
