Hey all. I am not a NPSIA applicant, but I did apply to Carleton for a different MA program. I applied on February 28, almost one month after the February 1 deadline. Here is my timeline so far: Feb 28 - Preliminary review required Mar 1 - Recommended for assessment Mar 17 - Zoom call with department admissions chair - informed me I would be accepted into the program and just needs to go to FGPA Mar 23 - In the span of about 30 minutes, it went from recommended for assessment, to review in progress by the department, to review in progress by faculty of graduate and postdoctoral studies The chair of the admissions committee who I spoke with on Thursday said I would probably get the admissions letter by the end of the week. So now that it is at FGPA, I will see how long that process takes and then will update once I get my letter.

I received an email yesterday from the head of a department and chair of the admissions committee for the graduate program to which I submitted an application. Aside from him suggesting a time to meet, this is what he said in the email: "I am grateful for your continuing patience. Our admissions process has taken a bit longer than usual this year, due to the high number of applications we received for a limited number of places. The Admissions Committee was impressed with your application, but they have asked me to meet with you again in order to clarify a few things." Obviously I was not accepted on my application alone, so that seems worrisome to me. Then again, I wasn't denied admissions either. Appreciate any feedback on this!

Did you ever hear back about your application? I just applied on 02/28 and mine is "Recommended for assessment."

I am a little confused with Carleton's application status found here. So how the page is written, it appears that Review in Progress by Department is before Recommended for Assessment. I have seen some people on this forum mention that their status has changed in that order. However, I have also seen many applicants at Carleton talking about how their status changed from Recommended for Assessment to Review in Progress by Department. Is there a consensus on what the actual order is for the application status? I applied on February 28, and in one day my application status went from Preliminary Review Required to Recommended for Assessment. So either it already was reviewed by the department, or the review by the department is the third step, and Carleton's status is not in order of steps.
