Congrats!! Regarding your question about financial aid - have you been accepted anywhere else? Sometimes that's helpful in negotiating a better deal. Like say you were also in at Columbia, then you would bring that up to the NYU team and it'll make them want to make their offer more enticing.
Looks like it. I have a friend who says she received an email telling her she was a semifinalist and that she has an interview at the end of the week. Thought that the semifinalist thing was odd - if you're at the interview process aren't you a finalist by that point? Unless they have a second round of interviews? Anyway, I didn't apply to Yale this year so thought I'd throw that out there for all you folks who did!
What do you all think about recycling statements of purpose if you're applying to a school for the second year in a row? I feel like it might be prudent to change it up if you made it to the interview process but otherwise I've heard at certain programs the admissions committee doesn't even read them if they didn't care for the play. Thoughts?
Sooo if people starting receiving acceptances a week ago and I still haven't heard anything does that mean I'm rejected? Or am I on an unofficial waitlist? What do y'all think? I just want to know so I can figure out my plan for the rest of the year.
This is exactly how I'm feeling. I so wanted to be in New York and study under Lynn Nottage. But they also say no news is good news and being on the waitlist is still an achievement in itself. And I know a handful of current Columbia students who were offered spots way later in the application cycle so there's always a chance.
Thanks for letting us know! Praying that they're sending out offers in waves. The waiting is the most excruciating part, I've been refreshing my email every 15 minutes ugh
Hi all! Longtime lurker here -- I had an interview scheduled with Columbia yesterday but there was some sort of technical difficulty that pushed my timeslot up by almost 20 minutes. So I was super frazzled by the time we actually got to talk, so much so that I don't even remember the name of one of my interviewers! I spoke to Morgan Jenness (who was awesome!) and another gentleman. Anyone else interview with them yesterday who could ID him?
