  1. So Ok.... I received my GRE scores today.... and I got 3.5 (!) in the writing...I knew I didn't do so well...but this? This is just wrong..... Well, I am applying to some Sociology programs....and I wanted to ask all of you whether I should re-take the stressful GRE....just for the sake of the writing section....would you say it's worth it? I do have good scores in other sections (V: 720, Q: 800).... Based on your knowledge and experience, do social science programs, and more specifically sociology program place great value in writing scores? Help me please!!!
  2. Hi, everyone! I need some help here! I am currently in the Sociology masters program in one of the better universities in Canada. I just wanted to know where I stand in terms of my competency to get into some of the Ph.D. programs below. Especially, since Canadian schools have different scales of GPA, I have no clue. Any evaluation, tips, suggestions are welcomed!! U.S. Schools Princeton Wisconsin-Madison UCLA Michigan England Schools LSE Oxford UCL My information: Undergrad GPA: <2.9> Top 20 Public University in U.S. Undergrad (2nd Degree) GPA: <86%> Top 10 University in Canada Graduate Program GPA: <86%> Top 10 University in Canada GRE: 500 Verbal 770 Math I have two publications (both first authors, accepted and forthcoming in 2011), of which first is in referred journal and another is a book chapter. I am also in the process of submitting for my third pubication. I also presented papers at three different conferences in Canada. I should have very strong LORs, and a good Personal Statement. Any ideas? Anyone who graduated from Canadian schools? Thank you for your input and help! I greatly appreciate them!
