Hi everyone!
I waited a while to see if anyone made a group, but eh here it is! I've made a Facebook group for the entering class of 2022 for the Waterloo MPH program! Feel free to join

I applied to UVIC but I think a really big draw for me was the Indigenous focus opportunity in their program which I think is SO pertinent to public health - especially for me as a Manitoban which has a very high proportion of Indigenous peoples. So for me that, along with tuition costs would be enough to choose UVIC, but maybe you prioritize wanting to leave home and going somewhere new. Tough choice, but congrats!!
Waterloo update for others waiting to hear back. I had just emailed asking some questions about my admission and the person I emailed is gone on break so I got a bounce back and it had this note on the bottom.
I emailed UVIC about updates to their decision timeline. This is the email I got back just now. So it seems to me that perhaps first rounds will come out at the end of April/early may and that second rounds will come later? So all applicants will know by the end of may? Cause it seems odd if they decide by end of April and don’t tell people till the end of may. Anyway thought id share the update!
It’s roughly 80-85 a year - changes every year cause its not really fixed. Roughly 6 in global, 20 in health promo, 20 in health policy, 14 in epi, 10 in bio stats, 1 in food safety. Those are all rough numbers and Idk if thats total (PT and FT, online and in person, or just for like FT in person) if that makes sense. I have a feeling it might be total FT in person or online…
hmm, I think I roughly calculated my GPA to be like 83%?? And I am finishing a BSc Hons this semester. I felt really good about my LOI though so I think that was good and maybe my references but I don’t know what they said ? Nothing crazy going on though with my stats so it must have been the other qualitative stuff!
I got accepted to Waterloo! The offer on the letter is dated April 5th (yesterday) but I never got an email notification saying that I got an update. Thank god I checked the portal yesterday! For people who’s portal still says application I think you have to click on “masters of public health” and then the decision may show up there. Not sure if that helps!
Also accepted to U of A distance FT HPromo. Reject from UBC. Waiting on UVIC.
