  1. I’m not sure if these sort of questions are allowed or discouraged, if so I will delete this post no problem. So I’m transferring universities for my master’s degree to be able to spoil myself and go down the path of linguistic anthropology. Having finished my bachelor’s in fine arts I’ve decided to go with the aspects of art which concerns communication, specifically through textile uses in everyday life of certain cultures of the Middle East, specifically regions of Iran. I’m interested in the classification of certain patterns that share a similarity to rugs and textiles found on the Balkans, their origins, symbolism and usage for certain events, everyday uses etc. So my question is (since I’m really just beginning to get into more intricate aspects of anthropology) does this seem like an appropriate approach to my research, I’d really like to emphasise the communication aspect through a more linguistic domain, but I’m just not educated enough to know if I’m completely shooting in the dark in taking this approach? Thanks for your time and sorry for the long post!
