Ok so does anyone have any info or advice on next year's applications??? i was rejected from EVERY phd poli sci program i applied to. while i love poli sci, my subject of study could really be studied through history, poli scie, econ, or business. Is any one of those less competitive than the other? I'm starting my 2nd master's degree in the fall, hoping that will make me a stronger applicant. My undergrad is from Columbia (poli sci + spanish) my MA is from NYU (Political Economy) and i start Quant Methods MA at Columbia this Fall... I really want to just get my PhD already so i can research & teach etc but it's getting farther and farther any advice? I also work full-time as an analyst in financial services.

did anyone hear from Washington University in St. Louis?? I have not heard

yeah WashU is done. I went there for undergrad and obviously that didn't matter!!! lol. I was accepted w full tuition & stipend to Colorado but can't go...cant get a transfer from work. Rejected from: NYU, Columbia, Yale, and CUNY!!!! <- my back up. I called and they were like, oh, you dont have enough poli sci background- i was like but i have a BA and MA in poli sci... then the woman was like, oh you probably dont have enough languages- i was like, i speak 3... crap utter crap!!!

Yeah soooo i'm still waiting for WashU & Princeton & can only assume it's a no. Blah! I also got "quasi-rejected" from NYU, where I am currently an MA Politics student. I emailed our admin guy and asked "when will i find out?" and he wrote back, "admitted students already did find out" just like that...how rude!!! That was 2 weeks ago and i have yet to receive a formal rejection. God at this point i'd sell my hair for a waitlist. It really is like winning the lottery right?! I mean, we all have stellar qualifications. Oh well. Waaaah

yeah, but i have horrid GRE scores and still have been accepted to PhD programs. It's not ALL they look at.

So what exactly is the thought on e-mailing them/contacting them about your decisions- is that a death sentence? Anway, i got accepted to my backup school. But still waiting on all these others, which as you guys know is not a good sign bc letters get sent out for acceptances pretty early. Is there every anything you can do this late in the process to help change a rejection to a waitlist or acceptance, since they havent sent it out yet? I felt crazy and insane before i found this site, but now i feel better to know there are more of me out there
