I'm currently entering my final year of my undergrad as a math major. I'm working part-time at a big-name financial services firm in securitization and I'm looking at completing a masters in math as it would be a huge help. I was wondering if it'd be worthwhile to ask my boss for a recommendation? I already have one letter from a tenured professor and another from an early career research professor. While my boss is not an academic, he has a strong academic and professional background: PhD in Nuclear Physics and a Masters in Applied Math and was a big name on Wall St, having worked in securitization since the 80s at various investment banks. How would a letter from him be received by an admissions committee?
