I didn't realize Dal had already sent out some acceptances. Does anyone else's portal say "Incomplete items outstanding" for application status? Does anyone know how long their written notification to follow will be? Waiting all month will be brutal lol.

Hi! When I applied last year my application protal/status was never updated! From my experience and conversations with other people they will only update it when you are accepted. Last year I was soooo anxious because I didn't hear from Dal for a month and got rejected, but I know other people who got accepted around the same time. They sent out acceptances I think two or three times last year because people have to accept/reject their offers and have a certain time period to do so. Fingers crossed for you and make sure to take time for yourself! Waiting is so hard 💙

amazing congrats! may i ask if your dal portal was updated and had the reference letter and other info filled out? i had to contact the admissions department about my admissions portal as it is still blank and only has the date i paid the fee on there (even though I submitted everything ahead of the due date). just wondering if this is the same for anyone else?

Hello! I applied to Dalhousie last year as well as this year and they will not update it. They get so many applicants that they don't go through and update anyone's account. The only thing they will update is the Application Status and Decision if you are offered a spot. Last year was so stressful because of this but now I know that they will never update it haha!! Hope this helps with the stress!!

Hey! I was waiting months for my Dal transcripts to be sent so I finally called and they said I hadn't paid for it yet (such a dumb mistake on my end) - I didn't realize you have to call to pay on the phone to complete the transcript request. I ended up just using MyCreds which was so quick and easy. Hope this helps!

yes me too! I got annoyed and ended up calling haha and it turns out I had the same problem. Mycreds was great!

  4. hey everyone good luck on all your applications! I'm still waiting for ORPAS to receive my transcripts from Dalhousie. I've had them sent twice now and they've never received them through the mail while ORPAs have received all my other transcripts from my other universities. I'm thinking of asking them to email them to ORPAS, does anyone know what email to use? has anyone had to email them their transcripts?

    Hello everyone!

Do you know how long it takes for the Dal admission committee to send the e-reference email? It says up to five but does it take that long!! I just submitted it last night.

hey! I had trouble with this a few weeks ago. My problem was I didnt submit the application fee right away so none of my references received it until I did so and it was really fast! I think they got maybe 24 hours later.

Do you know if all the rejections get sent out at once?

I'm wondering that as well. They sent out more acceptances and rejections yesterday but I still haven't heard anything, and I don't think anyone heard anything today, so I'm wondering if that means waitlisted?? but I also don't want to get my hopes up

Hi everyone, here are some Dal admission updates:

22 seats have been confirmed. I am not confident in the number of total seats, I think it's around 37 or 38 for SLP and audiology together. There are 10 people who have been offered admission but have not responded though, the deadline to do so is tomorrow. Janet will likely be sending out another round of offers next week.

There is still hope! And just to repeat some advice I recommended earlier: in the meantime, stay busy, spend time with friends and family, enjoy your hobbies, foster the side of you outside of these applications because you are wayyyy more than what these universities decide ;)

Do you know how many are for audiology? I think SLP might have somewhere around 25 seats and then 13-14 for Audiology just looking at the timetable for anyone else wondering

Hello! First time applicant here. I am still waiting to hear from Dalhousie. Has anyone else that has applied not heard anything yet?

Hi, I'm a first-time applicant as well! I still haven't heard anything from Dal, I'm hoping within the next week or so, but from a previous post, people who were offered early admissions don't need to decide until April 15th, so we might not hear back until after that date.

Hey! First time applicant here and I got waitlisted to both uoft and western. Janet let me know that I am waitlisted in the second quadrant. Does anyone know what that means?

Hi, I am also in the second quadrant! From looking at previous years forums the waitlist is either 50 or 100 people long and if it's 100 then our places are probably between 25-50. Fingers crossed for both of us!!

Hey everyone! Late posting this because Gradcafe locked me out of my account.

I applied to Audiology and Speech at Dalhousie (I did not have the pre reqs to apply to any other Canadian schools) and got accepted into both on March 15th. My stats were:

BA in Psychology with honors (in behavioral neuroscience)

    4.2/4.3 last 20 credits

Around 50 hours of volunteer work at a pediatric SLP and AUD clinic

100+ volunteer hours with other youth/community programs (i.e, Big Brother Big Sister, CMHA, ESL tutor, coaching children with disabilities)

100+ hours of research-based experience as a volunteer and teaching assistant

I also did two separate study abroad programs in Spain, where I was immersed in the Spanish education system and language, which may have strengthened my application (I am unsure how admissions weigh these types of programs, so perhaps it was completely irrelevant).

My understanding is that the applicants who have applied to both programs and gained acceptance into both programs hear back first. This is because we are technically taking up two spots (one in each program), so if you have applied to only SLP at Dal and have yet to hear back, I would not stress. I think they wait until the dual applicants confirm and then send out a second round of acceptances based on the number of spots left. I have to confirm by April 15th! I hope this is helpful  :)

Hi, this was helpful thank you! I was really hoping to hear from Dal sooner rather than later, but considering you don't have to get back to them until April 15th I won't be frantically checking my email every two hours until after this date haha

Hi everyone! Long-time lurker of this forum HAHA. I just wanted to say congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!! This is so exciting and seeing everyone's hard work pay off is so gratifying :)

This is my first year applying... I applied to Dal, McGill, Western, UofT, and Mac. I'm from Nova Scotia so Dal is my first choice, however I haven't heard anything from them yet. BUT I am ecstatic this morning as I was accepted to UofT and Western!!! (I was waitlisted for Mac but I did not interview well LOL).

    Congrats again everyone!!

Congratulations!! I'm also from Nova Scotia, and Dal is my first choice! I'm hoping that we will hear this week, one of my friends in the program said this is around the time most people heard back, so fingers crossed!!

I wanted to hop on here and say congratulations to everyone who received an offer! You should be very proud of yourselves:)❤️ I was put on Western’s waitlist and wanted to know if you all thought it would be okay to email Janet about what quadrant I was in? In the email, it says information related to my exact position on the waitlist was not available. Let me know:)

Hi! I was also waitlisted (as it seems a lot of people were!!) I think they gave that info out in previous years, so I think that would be okay and the worst they can say is no. They specifically said the "exact spot" in the email, so that leads me to believe we can maybe get the quadrant info...hopefully 😅

Just emailed Dal. Here’s what I got as a response:

“We send out our offers in batches.  We have sent some out already, but more will be sent out within the next 6 weeks or so.  We will also be notifying applicants if they have been waitlisted.  Thank you for your patience.“

    hope this helps someone!

"within the next six weeks or so" 😅 they really love keeping us stressed!

Has anyone heard anything about audiology at Dal? Do you know if I got waitlisted last year, my chances are good for acceptance this year?

I'm stressing. I hope they send out an answer - any answer - asap. Hopefully they do it in bunches.

hi! I also applied to Dal but speech-language. I asked someone currently attending Dals SLP program and they said some received letters early while others received them the first few days in April. As for the waitlisted stats I'm not too sure, but my fingers are crossed for you!!! waiting is so stressful!

Has anyone received an email from Dal saying their application was complete? I haven’t! just wanted to check. In the previous threads, people mentioned that they did in February...

nothing yet! I'm starting to get worried...but I'm sure everything is just backlogged. I have a feeling they got a lot of applications
