Has anyone got an update yesterday or today that wasn't moving on to the second round? Trying to figure out if they're taking forever to do everything manually again or if my last updated date of 1/12 means I'm not moving on.

In past years, what did the late-January update about whether you moved onto the next step look like?

Finally got my first update today 1/3 around 8pm! Probably means nothing but it's good to know someone has seen my application.

Still no update for me too. ARO Aerospace Engineering. I'm guessing it's subject area too, it seems like people from most branches have recieved updates but we don't have big enough of a sample to see about subject areas.

I just got another email saying that they didn't find any personally identifying information and I have no actions right now. First good email I've revieced from them lol This email notification is in response to the email you received earlier today Subject: 2022 - 2023 NDSEG Fellowship Application - 12/5/22 Update. The 2022 – 2023 NDSEG Fellowship Application is the first year the DoD Program Manager and Sponsoring Agencies hosted a blind (anonymous) application. We were asked to assess the number of applications that contained PII as the SME Review Panel will adhere to the guidelines established by DoD. Now that we have completed that task, the review will continue for the Subject Matter Experts Panel. If you are receiving this notification you have successfully submitted a complete application and NO ACTION is required on your part; thank you for your patience and understanding

Yea not an age limit, it's a years in grad school thing. They made it very confusing in their webinar, but on paper it sounds like you have to apply during or before your 2nd year in grad school

Once we have completed the transition, we will be able to remove all notifications. At this time there is NO ACTION required by you (the applicant).

Yea I think we're just learning that these people are beyond incompetent. I'm just trying to ignore their emails unless there's an action attached to it. Not much we can do now. But it still would've saved me a heart attack if they wrote that email including that it is a mass email sent to everyone whether their application was anonymous or not.

Did everyone else get the non sensical email about anonymity guidelines? I think they're trying to say that they'll give us the opportunity to scrub our applications of identifying information but it was poorly written. But I think that might be the reason for changing the deadline

Are you all just seeing that on the activity pane of the application portal? Mine hasn't been touched yet if so. Submited for ARL Maneuver System Trade Space. Edit - just saw that it was last edited 11/21

Someone started one this week

I just checked the SME part of the website - it looks like they don't even start evaluating applications until November 28. Which begs the question, why were applications due so early? I talked to a guy in my lab who was awarded NDSEG a couple years ago while applying, and he was convinced that I had the deadline wrong when I told him it was 10/31 because it was so early compared to previous years.

I also applied! It's my first and last try. I was woefully unaware of grad school processes during undergrad and came back to school after working, so I age out of the program after this cycle. Good luck to everyone! Following this thread to get a better handle of timelines and when they actually release results. I just checked my portal today, and it looks like no one has touched my application yet, at least that I can see.
