  1. Yes! I feel absolutely blessed. When we apply, we want to be accepted, of course, but I couldn't wish for a better cycle...
  2. Claiming Harvard acceptance. Call from POI. This day will make history.
  3. Hey @PolGrad, I took the longer path: moved to the US for an MA, got to know people, built a network (LoRs), showed some potential to do research + learned a lot... My assessment was that I wouldn't be competitive (enough?) without this intermediary step...
  4. That's pretty much my story. Years working and then coming back to academia (happily). Absolutely happy with the cycle, but still two to go.
  5. You already have too many acceptances @Obscurepun ? But I am guessing this week, given the records of previous years...
  6. I've heard that Harvard decisions are made. Results should come soon.
  7. I second that. With two waitlists, you have a very good chance to start your PhD in the fall. I've been blessed with multiple acceptances at top schools this cycle. Talking to Professors, they told me that the decision of acceptance/rejection is sometimes based on really little details: a sabbatical here, a professor who prefers another student there... So never take rejections as face value of YOUR value. For everyone considering (re)applying, I should again recommend this post: This helped me so much to build my application...
  8. First an email "check the portal". I thought: oh boy, here we go. But it was the acceptance haha The emails from the DGS + GSAS came a little later...
  9. This "lack of transitivity" happens and it may be the case given several factors: fit, two "too" strong candidates for the same lower-ranked schools, concerns over effective enrollment... If you roll back a little in this forum you will see people accepted at Berkeley (top-5) and rejected at UChicago (arguably not even top-10). Last year there was a guy who hasn't gotten anything and then got Stanford haha Another who was rejected in a bunch of medium schools and got Harvard and Princeton off the waitlist. Takeaway: the process is hard to read... We apply broadly and wait for the results with positive thoughts.
  10. This is such a blessing isn't it? First acceptance means: it doesn't matter what/where you are going to start your PhDs this Fall. Amazing! Congrats!
  11. Hey @PolGrad. I didn't know about this "feature". I do have a MA from an American university. I think it is a good path to get a masters in the US before the PhD. One has time to get used to the language and requirements, and also the chance to get LoRs and so on... At least that was my plan (it seems to have worked)
  12. Soooo thrilled! International, CP, email some minutes ago...
  13. I almost cannot believe I am writing this, but I'm claiming BERKELEY!
