  1. Yes, that may be the distinction. Most of the people I know getting offers/rejects are international. As far as I know, they have not released decisions yet.
  2. Are you sure you are talking about Upenn (Wharton) PhD Statistics program? Several of my friends have received offers as well as rejections. UPenn Statistics never does so late (this year was expection) while releasing the first (or, only) round of offers. It mostly came around last week of Jan during last two years at least. I'm not sure if the person whom you mailed is saying about second round of offers or some other program, but not Statistics.
  3. Okay. Do you have any idea if more offers are expected to come? One of my friend asked them, but they ghosted. They should have some visit day soon (or maybe alreday over). But, considering their department size with a large number of students, I think there should be more waves. It maybe a reporting bias or the people who received interviews are mostly international (i.e. those who are not currently in the states and who are less likely to use gradcafe. Stat depts mostly interview the international applicants as I have heard) I see. Thanks for the info.
  4. Harvard will probably take time to give decisions if you had an interview. I saw several acceptances at UTH in the results thread. For UIC, I know, they normally gives offers a bit late. I guess you should email them what that means. Anyone still waiting for or have any information for UNC Biostat and MD Anderson Biostat ?
  5. Wharton Statistics sent offers as well as rejections. If you didn't get any, you should follow up them if they are still reviewing applications
  6. Well, I'm not sure but I guess most of the schools give deadline of April 15 to those who are already offered a position. So, at worst someone will withdraw an offer say around April 14, and you can get offer on April 15 if you are in a kind of waitlist. In that case, I don't think you will get that much time to commit to the offer (take it to be something around last week of April; but I don't know).
  7. I know a couple of people who got admits from Berkeley and Harvard Stat. So, they perhaps ended up giving first round of offers, and if you are not rejected yet there might be still chances to get in waitlist. But, I'm not sure if there will be a significant amount of people withdrawing offers given the reputation of the programs. Nonetheless, keep optimism. Columbia, I guess, just finished taking interviews of some candidates. The offers should be released within a couple of weeks.
  8. Oh, okay. Yes, that's what I thought, because the first case is not that common in Stat/Biostat community. Anyway, best wishes to all of you for Yale!
  9. By the way, what do you mean by POI ? Is it a person with whom you already made contact before applying ? Or, it is just a person whose name was mentioned in your SOP in particular?
  10. Thanks for your wishes. Yeah, it is difficult without some amount of funding. I have heard that a couple of biostat departments like UMich, Duke provide assistantships to MS students too. That's why I asked. Anyway, let's hope for the best. I wish you get in Umich and NC State.
  11. Oh. Are you considering it? I don't know if they are going to give you funding in that case? What other schools are you waiting for? I'm at present waiting for Nc State, UMich Biostat & UCLA Biostat.
  12. Have they given interview invite? I've not seen it in gradcafe. Maybe I missed. But, last year I guess they sent rejections in early February if I'm not wrong. People who are yet to hear from Minnesota Biostat, did you try to contact the departement? Any lead on when they might give decisions? Last year there were a wave of rejections in January last. I'm not sure if it will be safe to think about a hidden waitlist if you don't hear anything till now? I'm asking it for one of my friends. I got an rejection from BU (Biostat) after withdrawing my application! Maybe that's their way of cancelling your application ?
  13. I guess it will be early to lose hope. I came to know that the they have given some early acceptances, but they are still reviewing applications. So, just stay tuned. If you were interviewed and if they did not give any decision timeline to you, I guess you can directly reach out to the Graduate Director (Dr. Kimmel I guess) to know about your status.
  14. Congrats @prgp. UC Irvine is really a nice department (and, I don't know why but it is underrated like UT Austin) and it has some of the really active faculties in biostatistics. I did not know that their cohor sizes are so small. @LWAN, congrats. Yes, you are correct. Vandy normally takes that much students only (4-5). However, I don't know how many of the how much of the inetrviewed students are offered admission. Nonetheless, you have good chance. Sorry, @frank_Frank. I missed your question. I was especially saying about Wharton Statistics which normally comes in last week of January. I don't know about other Wharton programs. It's completely out of my league.
  15. Congrats @prgp for your interview in UC Irvine. Best wishes to you. Do you know if they ended up giving all interview invites ? The frequency with which the invites are appearing in results thread might mean that they are perhaps doing things on a case by case basis. It might be reporting bias though. For NCSU, I don't think they give all acceptances/rejections together. It looks like they look at a file, take decision and intimate. In the mean time, some other files are still being in discussion of admission committee. So, more acceptances/rejections are likely to come in the first week of February. I think they would intimate in early February itself if you are waitlisted. All these are my speculation looking at past year's case. I will not be surprised if it goes completely working given the uncertainties involved in these processes.
