  1. I just got mine! I think GradCAS is having problems because my first email didn't have an attachment, but after I emailed, I got another email that was exactly the same (but with attachments) and another one from the Grad Program Coordinator!
  2. Has anyone else heard from Carnegie Mellon for the MA in Design?
  3. Woo!! Lots of acceptances! I haven't heard back from ArtCenter (applied for 3-year graphic design) and I'm not sure if I will hear back at this point.
  4. Has anyone heard back from CCA for the 3-year Design program (concentration: Graphic Design) yet after interviews?
  5. OMG I JUST GOT INTO RISD
  6. They accepted you on the spot too so they really like you and your work—you should feel incredible about that! CONGRATS!!!!!
  7. Hey, just wondering but what program did you interview for? I'm still waiting on ArtCenter but I'm starting to think that's not happening. :'-))
  8. I saw that comment too. I'm pretty sure that person got hacked because they were posting normal stuff on the Sociology/Education threads before it started spamming weird stuff on other threads!
  9. Yes, good luck to us!! 😎🍀🍀🍀🤞 Reminds me of this thread where a bunch of people in RISD got accepted hehe 🙂
  10. I shared something similar earlier today before Gradcafe shut down and deleted everyone's messages haha but I definitely felt like RISD is completely invested in each person that interviewed. Like you, they also asked me very specific questions about my application materials. They were very warm and seemingly kind people, and I definitely felt even more invested in their program after I wrapped up the interview, haha. :'-))
  11. I applied but have not heard anything either!
  12. Did anyone do their RISD interview in person? What was that like?
  13. My background is in art history/museums. Most of my experience (graphic design) comes from internships or volunteering, as well as a little bit of design work in my current role. It has been nearly 3 years since I graduated from undergrad. This is also my first cycle.
  14. Wow, one graphic designer a year...
  15. Just received an interview invite for the 3-year MFA Design program (concentration in graphic design) at CCA! Honestly thought I wasn't going to hear back from any more schools so I'm happy about it!
  16. On the spot?! Congratulations!!!! That's amazing!
  17. Wow! That's a lot more interview finalists than I thought... ? So awesome of her to let you know early, she must really want you to join! And no waiting game. ? Anyone have any information on the graphic design interviews at RISD?
  18. WOW CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! The application process really speeds up after the interview invite, huh? ? When was your interview?
  19. According to their 2022–23 bulletin, it says "Approximately eleven students are admitted each year" for Sculpture (page 23). In this 2007 article, it says that 31 sculpture finalists were interviewed, 10 would be admitted. So I would guess that maybe a little higher than 31 is how many they interviewed unless they decided to interview a lot more this year?
  20. Good luck to anyone with RISD interviews this weekend! Let us know how it goes :’) Based on responses from GradCafe in the last 10 years, the interviews were more casual. I still feel like I need to prep for scenario questions which…I’m not a fan of. ?
  21. Also, I got admitted to MCAD! This is my first application cycle and it wasn’t looking too hot for me aside from an interview invite at another school. I’m just happy to be accepted anywhere and plus this was the most realistic option for me as it allows me to work full time and it’s way more affordable than the other schools! But I would really prefer to work on my practice full time so crossing my fingers…
  22. I might be miss remembering or confusing it with Yale but I feel like I’ve read about someone on Grad Cafe who got admitted to the 2-year graphic design program at RISD with no interview? Might vary by department!
  23. You are the best, thank you! I'll practice and hopefully I don't over or under explain myself during the real interview.
  24. Thank you for sharing your experience, it's really helpful! I'm awful at interviews and am really worried about rambling for so long that they end up not asking as many as they would've wanted, haha... For a question like "Why do you want to go to grad school?," would a 4-minute answer be too long for example? I don't want to regurgitate my existing application materials, but I also don't want to sound like a completely different person than my statement. I wish they would send me the questions beforehand.. How long do you think I should allot for each portfolio project they ask about? Did Wisconsin ask you to talk about any of your works? Hope you get in! ?? ? I might have considered applying, but I didn't realize that they had a graphic design focus until it was too late (I thought they only had focuses in printmaking/textiles!).
  25. Does anyone have any interview tips for 3-year graphic design students candidates? ? My interview is going to be 25 minutes long, and I assume they'll ask me about specific projects in the portfolio or ask me to talk about a project. In addition, I assume they'll ask me the basic questions, "Why grad school now? Why this school?" etc. How much time should I allot for each question? I don't know how long the portfolio is or how many questions they'll ask me, I just won't want my answers to be too long or ramble, but I also don't want to overestimate how many questions they'll ask me and give 1-minute answers to 3 questions. Thanks for any help! ?
