@nevermindthespock Yes. I accepted the MMPAL offer. I could not get any further detail on where I am in the process from TMU so I did not have a choice.

It would be helpful if TMU could confirm if first round offers have been sent and/or if I am on a waitlist. But, I guess that they are not allowed to provide that type of information.

FYI - I was speaking to some friends and I know quite a few people were rejected in the last two weeks. Probably a good thing that we haven't heard as it means we're still in the running! :)

For those like me still waiting on TMU, I reached out to the Program Administrator and I was told that the process has begun and will continue until the program has filled the available spots. So, not much new information.

In my view, based on people's experiences from previous years and a few posts in this forum, it looks like the first round is likely over and once people decline, new offers will be made available.

Good luck to all those still waiting.

Thank you for this update! Did you accept your MPPAL offer in the meantime?

  3. It's interesting that there seem to be quite a few of us waiting on TMU - interesting that they don't seem to send many rejections at this time but I assume people are just "in the queue" based on whether people ahead of them accept or decline offers. It would be nice to have a definitive answer because then in my mind I could just commit to York lol. I'm also waiting on UVic (online) but I don't think I would go for it over York.

Just trying to get an idea of when I might get an admission decision. I had references and transcripts submitted in mid December but my CV and statements in at the end of January. When did most of you submit your complete applications? Does that mean I might not hear back until April/May?

Looking at the last few years' threads, it looks like most people heard back from McGill in March.

Congrats! Still haven't heard from york (besides a couple emails asking for my phone number for some reason). Good to know about TMU, lets hope to hear something soon! Keep us updated.

Lol I know I also got those emails more than once and I was very confused. I didn't get an email from York with my acceptance - just an update on MyFile so make sure you're checking that!

Also got accepted to Waterloo MPS! Got a letter on Quest but no email. Still waiting to hear from TMU and Queens. If anyone's heard anything please let me know!

Congratulations! I am 99% sure I am accepting York but I'm also waiting on TMU. Someone on Reddit said they received an offer from TMU on the 23rd so I think they have started sending offers. So far no update for me though.

I received an offer for the MPPAL at York University last Friday (Feb 17). It is for part-time studies.

    Waiting on TMU.

    Good luck everyone.

Congratulations! I’m still waiting on the MPPAL - you mentioned before that you interviewed for a full-time spot, did you switch to part-time? Also, did you get an email or just an update on MyFile?

Hello All. I have applied to MPPA program at Carleton. My status has changed from "Preliminary review required" to "Recommended for assessment". Any idea what does this mean ? And when does Carleton start sending out offers ?
    Thank you!

The preliminary review is usually done by graduate admissions and they make sure you meet the minimum entry requirements (e.g., GPA, you submitted all your transcripts) and recommended for assessment would mean it's going to go to the actually program admissions committee for review/a decision. Generally, a good sign! Good luck!

The program director reached out by email and I had a Zoom interview. York interviews for full-time only. Only 3-4 students accepted for full-time each year.

Most students are part-time as it is a program designed for working professionals in the public sector. No interviews for part-time applications.

Ah! Gotcha. I applied for the part-time stream. Major congratulations on the admit! I've heard it's really competitive to get into the full-time stream so that's amazing!

    Hi Everyone.

I applied to York (MPPAL), TMU (MPPA) and Carleton (MPAA) full-time.

Had an interview for York and an email confirming a offer in the next 2 weeks.

TMU acknowledged receipt and confirmed my application forward to Admissions Committee in an email. Nothing further.

    Nothing yet from Carleton.

Really wanted to apply to Queens but did not have time to study and write the GRE (My previous graduate studies were outside of Canada).

Looking forward to hearing from TMU and Carleton.

I didn't know the MPPAL did interviews, I haven't heard that from previous applicants! Can I ask how/when they reached out to you?

I did! I honestly talked about the experiences that shaped my research interests and also the courses id like to take- as right now, I'm undecided on the coursework option or research component for the schools that offer either/or that I've applied to.

Okay, cool! I did the same. I was curious to hear what others did as I've spoken to friends who have been admitted to MPA programs and they said they didn't mention research interests. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the insight, really appreciate it! Essentially, I was told that their admissions was on a rolling basis. So, the sooner you apply the sooner you get an answer! When I went to an info session, they had told me they wanted to get back to everyone that had applied before Nov 15 before Christmas break! But alas still waiting (which is always hard). This is my second time applying to public policy programs since I wasn’t able to get in during the pandemic 2020-21 with high application numbers? more nervous this time around! Good luck to everyone as well!!

I've hear that from a lot of people! That was such a competitive year. I feel like things have calmed down a bit now (or at least that's what the York Grad Admissions folks mentioned to me) - I think people are rushing less to go back to school now that things are to some extent "back to normal". Fingers crossed for you!

Hi folks! Was wondering if anyone applied to Max Bell at McGill and heard anything yet? I was told that applicants that applied before November 15 would be notified before the December break? But I still haven’t heard anything yet. Coming off of working full-time for almost 2 years. Applied to NPSIA, McMaster, Max Bell, and Carleton’s MPPA ☺️!

I haven't applied to Max Bell, but if you go to the results section on GradCafe you can see when most students tend to hear back from that program? In my experience things can vary widely from their timelines. The wait is so hard!
