    Go to Columbia, it will be way easier to get into a PhD from there, and also Dorothy Ko is brilliant with material culture, among other faculty.

    You actually have an advantage on the job market for the precise reason that you will "only be a problem" as a tenured faculty member for a shorter period of time than someone in their late 20's/early-30's

    Prepare questions as well, like "How would x center help support my research?" Don't ask something basic like "What housing is good in x city?"

    Has anyone heard anything from the HTC program at MIT? Other than that results will go out between March 15 and April 1, I don't know anything.

    I emailed POI and I was on their waitlist and then rejected - probably because I mentioned that I had other offers.

    Congratulations, that is a wonderful program (the MA?) and funded too! You should be very happy, and this will be a great stepping stone to a PhD program.

    But like can you compare History to other humanities disciplines, it feels like a lot of whining for one of the two better funded departments, this and English.

    Stanford will send results this week by email. If not, then probably next week. It seems the decisions have been finalized.

    I heard from potential future DGS that not receiving an interview invite, and not receiving a rejection, is POTENTIALLY that you are a candidate that is on their list in the case that an admitted student does not accept the offer. So we could all possibly be candidates at the top of the pool, just waiting for other people to say no. Nothing is over, not even after April 15th. My friend was admitted to her PhD on April 14th last cycle.

    This isn't the sociocultural anthropology thread, this is the Art History thread. Has anyone heard from Yale ART HISTORY? What about Stanford art history? I have a feeling these random interviews are trolls or mistakes or something because if most people in here applied to these two programs, I am sure that some of us would have heard something about an interview by now. I will be seeing the Stanford DGS on Saturday and will speak with him then to see what's going on over there...
