  1. I have an interview with UCSD!
  2. Wait so does anyone else here have an acceptance? I was admitted to USC EALC (PhD) along with two other students.
  3. Should I ask Dr. Jones for feedback regarding my application... LOL
  4. I was also rejected. At least we can all come together through this haha... This was my top choice program.
  5. I just saw someone posted an interview request from Columbia... I thought I was really qualified/had a good fit there.
  6. Who is the POI at Berkeley? Feel free to PM. That's my top choice school.
  7. According to previous years, UW should be sending interviews tomorrow or Friday, and then accepting in a week or two.
  8. No, it is still very early. I just got an interview invitation on Monday for example which will be happening on February 13.
  9. I applied to UW. Seems like most of us would be interested in Dr. Braester. Not sure how "filmy" my project is so we will see.
  10. No, you will be admitted. Congratulations.
  11. This was for the MA degree program, correct? Is your friend international? They may be interviewing an MA program applicant to confirm English language ability.
  12. Hi, I am doing contemporary China!
  13. Tell them to put you up in the Mandarin Oriental or the Seaport Hotel...
  14. I heard back with an acceptance from USC! I am so happy that I am able to relax now for the rest of the application cycle and just take what comes my way. Best of luck to everyone and I will continue to post results and contribute here so that everyone has much information as possible!
  15. I'm supposed to find out tomorrow if I get into USC! I really hope I get in after talking with faculty, it has been such a great experience so far.
  16. That's okay. If I were you I would lean into the lack of language training as a point for what you want to get out of a program in your application. Look for programs that have opportunities (such as Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship) that will give you money and time to learn the language(s)! I know you will succeed!
  17. No there are not interviews for the MA.
  18. I imagine this thread will pick up towards the end of the month?
  19. Submitted. It is still very early in the application process. Don't worry.
  20. You should look at UMass Amherst for their MA in art history. Do you have previous training in Chinese/Japanese/Korean. Have you thought about Korean being one of the more hirable East Asian fields? What is your primary nation of interest within East Asia? There are many great programs, particularly if you look at East Asian studies rather than art history. Language training is going to be the most crucial piece here in terms of acceptance. Message me if you have any questions or need any direction with how to position your application! I wish you the best of luck. If you have this summer in advance, apply to a language program - although I know this is often cost prohibitive! It’s so hard!!!! But I am definitely here to help :)
  21. I think what you should do is reach out to your POI directly, whether that is Atwood, Steinhardt, Chance, Kano, Mair, Cheng, or Goldin. A few of them get a student every year it seems, mostly Goldin, Mair, and Steinhardt. Try to set up a Zoom meeting with the person you hope will be your primary advisor because this goes a very long way in Penn admissions.
  22. It seems Professor Berry spoke to everyone in this forum the other day LOL! Good luck to everyone who applied to UCLA - I felt that was my weakest application by far and was shocked by even the first round interview. I don't feel I am a good fit for the program because I am not necessarily working on Cinema per se, but media theory.
