Everyone has different sensitivities to crime, but I wouldn't sweat it for a second with GU and CUA. Georgetown is very well off old-money neighborhood and tourist hotspot that may get a tinge of sketchiness in certain spots at night, but overall is an extremely safe area. CUA is near Brookland which is an up-and-coming pseudo-suburb and is a bit sketchier compared to G'town, especially depending where you're at in the neighborhood, but definitely not that bad overall and safer than most of the city. It looks like NeighborhoodScout's crime map corroborates my intuition.
