  1. Did anyone hear back from USC? I'm still waiting to get off their waitlist.
  2. Congratulations to those who have been accepted this cycle. Does anyone know how's Oregon reputation in political science? Thanks.
  3. I was wondering what the general perception is on USC's POIR program. Can anyone shed some light? Is it a lot different from the traditional political science program? How do their students fare after graduation? I'm not sure what people think about their post-graduate placements. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hello, I'm an PhD applicant for Fall 2011 and I have no acceptances. This made me wonder has anyone written a letter of continued interest / letter of intent to schools? Do you think it's a good idea to write one? Thanks.
  5. Wow, all of these essays are beautifully written. Question. I see that none of you have mentioned your thesis title in your SOP. Is it not okay to bring up your thesis title in your SOP? Also, is it okay to indicate that I want to be a professor following my Ph.D.?
  6. Hello guys, I'm an international student with a B.A. and an M.A. from the accredited institutions in the United States. Does anyone know if the U.C. (University of California) accept international students? Thanks in advance!
  7. I don't mean to hijack the thread, but speaking of the GRE, what scores are considered competitive? And how much emphasis is placed on Analytical Writing?

  9. Hey guys, I'm an applicant for political science/international relations phd program, and I was wondering if you can give me some feedback about my SOP. Would anyone be willing to read over my SOP? Thanks in advance!
  10. Thank you all for your advise. I don't have a lot of research experience, so I was wondering if I should emphasize on my work experience. In that case, how many bullet points should I have for each work experience? I was thinking about 3 bullet points per work experience. What do you guys think?
  11. I'm interested in political science/international relations Ph.D. programs, but I don't have any research or teaching experiences. I have had an extensive work experiences so should I include them in my CV? How many bullet points should I put for each work position? Also, what about extracurricular activities? Thank you.
  12. What are some important headers that should be included in our CV? Is a cover letter necessary? I have: Personal Information Education Work Experience (?) Research Experience Honors/Awards Publications Hmm, what else can I be possibly missing? Sorry if this comes as a stupid question. This is my first time applying to Ph.D. programs. And while I have obtained some information off the web, I think it is more appropriate to ask this question to people who are going through (or have been through) the process. Thank you for your understanding.
  13. Hello, Long-time lurker and first-time poster here. I hope you don't mind my asking a question. Do most political science/international relations Ph.D. programs have rolling admissions? When would be an appropriate time to submit my applications? Thank you in advance for reading.
