Waitlisted at UF. Though I don't think there will be any waitlist movement, but I'll wait until early April and see how it goes. -
They will notify applicants by next week at the lates, so one more week!

Don't know if you already heard back or not. I sent an email asking when we will be informed of the admission decision today! Tired of waiting it out! I'll let you know what they say.

English--> children's lit
-
Hi! I just want to share my happiness with you all! I am finally admitted somewhere (not top top ranked, but they have good reputation for child lit)! The perfect Valentine's present! I am very worried about the results because this year is my first cycle and I only apply to 4 phd programs. Also, I am not a native speaker, I have never studied in the US and my undergrad major is not english either. I just feel I am LESS compared to others. But today I received acceptance with tuition waiver, GTA and a merit fellowship award. They say I'm the top 2 phd admit to receive this award! I feel so happy that they like me and they value me! I wish you all good luck!!! I hope you will find my story encouraging and inspiring!

I know someone whose proposed area is children's literature got waitlisted. But I (also children's literature) heard nothing from UConn. I really don't know hahaha I guess it will be rejection for me? But there are only two results posted.
-
god, just saw the two results for UConn... I am so anxious now hahaha

waitlisted at TAMU. Was happy to be waitlisted hahaha because I thought I would be rejected. But now feeling more anxious about other results. -
Finally I got an update! I'm waitlisted for TAMU (I want to research multiethnic YA lit). Not a rejection and I'm very very happy!!! At least they recognize my effort! Finger crossed for everyone!!!

I know rejections sting!!! But it's just early Feb and nothing is done yet! I didn't hear anything from schools I applied to and well I only applied to 4. Anyways, our life goes on with or without acceptances. Just hang in there.
-
I was away to celebrate Chinese New Year with my friends, and now oh whoo Feb is coming and I can feel my anxiety level is rising again. All the programs (UF, UConn, Texas A&M, Illinois State) I applied to do not hold interviews, and I have been waiting ever since I submitted my app in Dec. Such a torture. Congratulations to all the offer holders!!! Finger-crossed for myself and everyone else!!!

I am applying for symposium of the Inklings Society for Literature and Aesthetics . The conference theme is "Defying Death: Immortality and Rebirth in the Fantastic." I am so into death and YA lit hahaha
-
You'll rock it and no emails can be a good sign!!! my mindset changes from (I'm a good fit! I'm happy with what I wrote!) to (maybe I can still work on my sop? maybe I'm just a weak applicant) within like 3 days??? I'm going to send over an abstract for a conference as well! Need to keep myself distracted.
-
Acceptance comes really early? I would suggest don't search... tho we all search hahaha anxiety takes over our body. I talked with my friends who applied last cycle how they managed anxiety. Well they just tried to do focus on something else. I'm learning a bit about digital humanities and French atm.

I am reading another YA about Metis right now! C rying over the extreme violence they face... being raped or assaulted, children taken away from them... God, it's just so difficult to read

Just wanting to drop by and say hello!!! I have been unable to sleep everyday since I submitted my last application. Wish u all good luck and good sleep! I am applying to English program with concentration in multiethnic YA lit!
