  1. Hi, just saw your message. This happened to me last year. I interviewed with NYU but was initially put on a hidden waitlist and did not get invited to their open house. They contacted me about a letter of admission on April 4th, presumably after other students on the initial acceptance list had already turned down the program. By that time, I had already decided to go elsewhere. If it is a very important program to you, just know you might have to wait a very long time at this point.
  2. Hi everyone: Has anyone been rejected by NYU yet? I was told by one person that they were, but I am wondering if more general rejections have gone out yet. I received an interview in February and have yet to hear back from them and I some individuals were already accepted, so I am trying to figure out what the status of my app might be at this time.
  3. Yep...I will say, even though it is a really prestigious program, one would think it becomes a bit of a gamble for them at some point. I mean, with so many programs already having given offers which will be likely provide a better living situation to students...
  4. Of course! People tend to post more here: https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/?per_page=20&q=&institution=&program=Spanish&degree=
  5. To the person wondering about NYU, they interviewed me just under two weeks ago. From my point of view, it was an incredibly unconventional interview given the DGS was not present and there were only two people interviewing me + it was restricted to twenty minutes. Needless to say, I was very skeptical this was the final round of interviews, because I know they conducted Zoom interviews for roughly two weeks. It seems that based on the results page, someone has advanced to a second, in-person round of interviews in Early March with a campus visit. Sadly, I have heard nothing from them and assume I have either been rejected or waitlisted. I don't want to sound too negative but, if you did not make it to the Zoom round of interviews, I can't imagine it is good news, but you never know. It would be nice if they would just reject the people whom they will clearly reject :0.
  6. Congratulations!! This is definitely something to ask your program quickly about! A couple years back, I had a friend who applied to programs in a different PhD discipline. They were offered admissions to a certain institution the same day as everyone else, only they would not receive funding. Unsurprisingly, they choose to attend elsewhere. I don't have any idea of how Notre Dame does funding, but there can always be those weird cases, so check in and congratulations!!
  7. Received a call from Northwestern's DGS today notifying me of my admission to the program so it would make sense that they are getting around to rejections and waitlists right now.
  8. Received an interview request at NYU via email.
  9. Thanks! My interview is scheduled for the end of this week. The notice came via e-mail this morning and there has not been any change to my online portal or application status.
  10. Received an invite to interview with Northwestern this morning! Looks like someone else did as well.
  11. It seems like a U Michigan acceptance has trickled in now too. I'm really hoping to know soon if someone has heard anything from Northwestern because it's my top choice. Also, it's important to remember that it's still very early in the season and departments can change their admission process every year. For example, some departments that traditionally do interviews may not do them and vice versa. They also might release results earlier or later than in previous years.
  12. Hi there. Best of luck to everyone. Does anyone know if there is a spreadsheet for average dates for interviews? Based on last year, it looks like Northwestern might be very soon and then a string of other interviews would start popping up in about two weeks at other institutions, but it would be nice to have a clearer timetable.
