  1. I contacted Brown and was told that official decisions will be going out in mid March. Being that there are already acceptances on the board I feel like this bodes for a rejection.
  2. Does anyone have any idea of when Brown will be sending out results? Its the last school I really need to hear from. If not, then its a clincher and UCLA here I come.
  3. What does everyone think of the UCSD acceptance that was posted? Real, or troll?
  4. Does anyone have any insider information on when UCSD is going to be notifying people?
  5. Dear lord, an acceptance was posted for Northwestern. Anyone want to claim it?
  6. I am interested in illicit markets, in particular on the illicit drug market and its relationship to insurgency, with an emphasis on Africa (But also on Eastern Euro and Latin America. And I expect that adding these two regions to my SOP hurt my chances)
  7. I will be at the UCLA weekend, we should meet up and talk about how amazing it is that this waiting period is over. Same for everyone else thats going :-)
  8. Rejected from Northwestern. :-( Too bad, I would have loved to have studied with Will Reno.
  9. Last year Northwestern posted acceptances by the 4th, and the bulk of their decisions came in by the 9th. I think we are right around that time.
  10. I see that two rejected for Northwestern have come in via their website. I have yet to hear from them. Anyone get an acceptance?
  11. I also just got a rejection from UT Austin when I checked their online system. I guess the academic Gods' knew I wouldn't do well in Texas. Thats two acceptances (UCLA and Boulder), and one rejection.
  12. Hey everyone. I really want to get a sense of where I fall within the grad school competitive spectrum. As much as I would like to apply to 10 or 12 programs like I have seen people doing, I do not have the financial means to do this myself. So I want to narrow down my list of potential schools so I don't bankrupt myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I graduated from a respected state LAC with a 3.68 GPA with a major in Political Science. My GRE scores are 650 verbal, 720 quant, and 6.0 on the writing section. My areas of interest include transnational organized crime, insurgency, and drug policy with an emphasis on the current drug war that is raging in Mexico. I have been the student president of my campus' Students for Sensible Drug Policy chapter, a intern for the Drug Policy Alliance, and a campaign organizer for the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies' campaign to ease the government restrictions on marijuana research. While I feel like I have relevant work experience for the field I wish to study, I am worried that these controversial organizations might hold back my application. I am thinking of applying to UCSD, UCLA, UC Irvine, UT Austin, and NYU. I have already ruled out Berkeley as an impossibility. UCSD and UCLA are reaches, UT Austin and NYU are targets, and UC Irvine is (hopefully) a safety. Any feedback on my chances to get into these school will make my day. Also, could someone give me further input as to which schools have a specialty in this field.
