  1. I have some updates - I've been fortunate enough to get interview invites from Penn, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, UTSW, UCSF, and UW-Madison. I was accepted to UW-Madison IPiB program but the rest of my interviews are coming up (these are all programs in biophysics or biochemistry) @tai_dex I'm sorry to hear about Case Western - I'm hoping you get off the waitlist and hear good news soon!
  2. i didn't apply, but best of luck and I hope you hear some good news soon!
  3. I received another invite from UCSF Biophysics earlier this afternoon (12/16) @tai_dex I shared a bit above but I'm a domestic applicant with a BS in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from an R1 public land grant school (3.7 GPA) and graduated with only one meaningful research experience (REU after junior year) mostly due to COVID. I started an NIH post-bacc program at a T10 university last summer (totaling around 20 months of full-time research experience) before applying for the first time this fall. I have no publications, have presented at 3 conferences, one of which was national where I received an poster presenter award in my category within Life Sciences. I also think it's still a little bit early for the bulk of programs - from what I understand (at least at my current institution), there was a huge increase in the number of applicants compared to prior years for the same number of spots. I think this may have led to longer reviews, additional, committee meetings, etc. so that they can give everyone the best chance possible! if you haven't heard back yet, the programs you applied to might just be getting through a bigger pile of apps! No news is good news :))
  4. Received an interview invite from UTSW BBS Friday (12/13 at 11AM EST)!
  5. Hi everyone! I received an interview with Penn BBCB earlier this afternoon (12/12 at 2 PM EST) - super surprised to hear back so early! I have a 3.7 undergrad GPA, ~2 years of full-time research experience (Currently in my second year of a post-bacc at a T10), and 3 poster presentations (won one national award) - mostly interested in structural biochemistry. Still waiting to hear back from like 10 other programs lol, but fingers crossed we'll get some emails next week!
  6. With the Dec 1st deadline rapidly approaching, I started this thread for Bio/Biochem/Biophysics/Molecular/Cell/Dev/Cancer Bio and other related PhD programs (I believe there is already a Neuro thread). Please feel free to share anything from results or responses in the coming weeks (share the program name and any other relevant details) or complain about the process in general! You're also welcome to post applicant stats (research experience, GPA, domestic/international, number of schools you applied to, etc.) as well - best of luck everyone, and congratulations for even hitting submit on these applications!!
  7. Hey everyone! I’m grateful to have picked a program to start this summer. I’m posting this because it might be helpful for people looking to apply to NIH PREP programs for 2024-25. Here’s how my application “cycle” went: - Boston University: interviewed early March, accepted in March (~1 week after interview) - Tufts University: interviewed late March (2 interviews), accepted early April (~1 week after second interview) - UMass Chan: interviewed late March, accepted early April (less than a week after interview) - Harvard RSI: interviewed mid-April (2 interviews), accepted late April (~1 week after second interview) - MIT Research Scholar Program: rejected, no interview - PennPREP: rejected, no interview - UNC PREP: interviewed late March, rejected early April If anyone has any questions about anything in my apps, feel free to reach out! I hope the cycle went well for others and I‘m excited to be starting Harvard RSI this summer - reach out if you’ll be in the Boston area for PREP too!
  8. Hi @green-ribboned_wreck! I’m sorry to hear about UMass Chan, but rooting for you to get off the waitlist! Based on some old forums, it seems like Harvard has historically sent out interviews during this past week? I’m not sure about the others though
  9. @you.0 Thank you for making this thread! Including the tracker was a great idea because I feel there is very little transparency about the application process because of how decentralized NIH PREP programs are. Hopefully, future applicants will get a better sense of the timeline for interviews, acceptances, etc for a wide range of programs. How is everyone feeling? Any interview invites floating around yet?
