Hey all, One week ago I received a truly nice email from a school which was not my top choice, saying that the faculty would like to offer me a place on their waitlist and asking to confirm whether I'd like to remain on that list or not. I am currently leaning towards not accepting and trying again next year - hoping to be then accepted to my top choice school and in the meantime gaining some non-academic experience (which is pretty common in my artsy field of study). My question is, if I accept their offer to remain on the waitlist, and they then decide to accept me out of the list, would it be terribly rude to decline later on? On the one hand I just feel I need some time to consider this and to explore other options available to me, and on the other I guess I need to give this school a reply very soon (my feeling is that letting them wait for more than a week is rude, but I have really no clue!). Any advice would be extremely appreciated, Good luck to everyone in these stressful times!
