  1. Thank you for the hug, it helps to know that I am not alone, are you also an international student?
  2. Thanks, I am onto making other plans, would have liked a little clarity but I have no control over that. Yes the waitlists did assure that I am working in the right direction, that a consolation for now.
  3. Hi, I don't know if anyone is here any longer, just taking my chances. I am on two waitlists but it is already past mid-May, does it make sense to pin my hopes on them at this point? I've written to one of the two univs a couple of times to check on my status, but they haven't replied to my emails even though they assured me that they would be willing to answer my questions. I know that it is very likely a rejection but I would at least like a clear notification of it. Writing in here to see if anyone else is still waiting or if someone can give me an insight into waitlist experiences..
  4. No rejection email from ND or UCR even though they sent out acceptances in Feb, kind of irritated now. Also I am on a couple of waitlists, which is not making matters easy either, just need some clarity so that I can make my decisions. Good luck to all those who are on waitlists!
  5. Hi everyone, I have lurked around here for a while. I am an international candidate, this was my second time applying. My first round of applications was in 2018, I had no idea how competitive this was and got rejections from all the 8 places I applied to. During the pandemic and after, I did a bunch of online workshops, worked on my manuscript and learned how to write statements of purpose and personhood . I applied to 12 places this time around, and have one acceptance and a waitlist. The acceptance is not a fully funded program but I have some financial aid, the waitlist is a fully funded program but it is a very small program so I don't know what my chances are. Due to familial and personal circumstances, I need to take whatever offer I get this year, but I am anxious about the money. I am wondering how feasible it would be to apply to fully funded programs while I am already enrolled in a program. Also I've gleaned from discussions here and on twitter that it is better to submit short stories rather than novel excerpts...is that advisable? I usually end up writing longer pieces rather than proper short stories. As I am considering my options and desperately hoping for the WL to work out, I am also preparing myself for another round of applications so any advice would be valuable in case you or anyone you know has moved from one program to another.
