  1. Does your list of schools include Berkeley? They seem to have developed a rather strong sequence of courses. Formal Models in Political Science (PS 232A) Formal Models in Political Science (PS 232B) Research Workshop in Formal Modeling (PS 291F) Political Behavior Models, Game Theory, and Statistical Methods (PS 269) Political Economics (PS C234A/Econ 215A) Plus, they do seem to have a number of substantive courses that draw from game theoretical approaches in political science.
  2. Just turned down an offer from Chicago. Comparative. Hope this opens up a spot for waitlisted folk. Good luck!
  3. Truly awesome. Some of the information you shared is stuff that I've never heard from anyone before. It will definitely help me a lot in finalizing my decision. Thank you!
  4. The Realist: Thanks for this rundwown. Is there anyway you could do this for some other schools, say Berkeley, Michigan, Columbia, Chicago, NYU?
  5. I think Harvard sends out rejection notices by postal service (that's what I understand), and the "rejected via e-mail" postings are from those who asked the graduate administrator by e-mail. I haven't received word either way, but I'm already presuming I'm rejected.
  6. Congratulations. Same here. Subfield political economy.
  7. Claiming the Berkeley comparative acceptance. Looks like they might not be done with acceptances, so there's hope for all!! Admit weekend is March 6th and 7th. E-mail with attached PDF files.
  8. Claiming the Chicago acceptance. E-mail from the department chair with invitation to admit weekend March 31st ~ April 1st.
  9. I don't know about the number of admits, but I was notified today that I am waitlisted. I hadn't received any word (neither acceptance nor rejection) prior to today. They seem to have reduced the number of acceptances this year, and that is the reason why we have seen so few admission postings.
  10. Same here. Anyone else not hear back from Michigan? 3 Acceptances and 20 or more rejections posted on the results page, and still no word.
  11. With the recent "waitlist via phone" post, I have officially decided to move on. Looks like all offers have been made, with only waitlists and rejections remaining. Like Tufnel, I was over-enthusiastic about Stanford, so it hurts a great deal. Having said that, my current advisor seems to believe that there are schools that are a better fit with my interests, so I have gained back some of my usual optimism. Good luck to all of you! I am sure good news is imminent.
  12. I was curious (all through the night actually). Do you think Stanford's already done with their acceptances or are they still in the process of sending them out? If they're done, I will have to somehow find a way to regain my peace of mind. Otherwise, I'll have to remain in utter agony, as Stanford was the school I was truly passionate about attending.
  13. Looks like somebody posted a Stanford acceptance... Damn. Here comes the profuse sweating .
  14. Looks like applications are finally being sorted and reviewed at the department level. Berkeley, Stanford, Chicago and Princeton have all indicated that they are reviewing, or at least, sorting materials for departmental review. Can't believe it's going to be at least a month before we get any news. I'm new to this whole process, so I have a question for you. How do you pass the time? I'm done with classes, finished writing my papers. Any suggestions?
  15. I want to study political economy of development. Some interest in advancing my formal background. My background is quantitative, but I am open to qualitative or new methodologies.
