  1. If they worded it that way then you may be fine! It could be different for every program.
  2. I just saw for one of my applications, that I’m assuming I was rejected for, I was supposed to check off representative work to say it’s my own work! I can’t help but wonder if they caused problems in my other apps. This whole time I thought checking that off meant my work is purely based off realism.. oh well lol
  3. Good luck with your interview! Glad we could help
  4. Congrats! Mine went super well as well! If you’re interested in doing the dual it sounded like you’ll get more funding then since he knew I was a dual applicant. I hope you get the news you’re looking for!
  5. Good luck to you too!
  6. For the people interviewing with purchase, when did you schedule your interview? Mine is tomorrow and I’m nervous!
  7. I didn’t apply to NP but I went for undergrad, so if you have any questions lmk! I knew people in departments besides my own (painting)
  8. Purchase is interdisciplinary so it’s just the one! But I’m painting based. They do have a dual degree program but they have separate apps.
  9. Congrats to both of you! I applied to CMU (got the rejection) Amherst (expecting a rejection) and UAlbany
  10. Just got an interview request for Purchase! Super excited bc I love this program.. interviewed with the art history dept back in January
  11. agreed with the other person who responded! And if you get an offer and don’t go someone off the waitlist can
  12. Yeah, same. I didn’t see anyone rave about the program so it concerned me. It was either people felt meh about it or hated it. Good luck with your other programs!
  13. Just got my Carnegie rejection! It was expected anyways
  14. On their website, it says invitations to interview go out the 19th of this month
  15. I’m assuming it’s too early, but has anyone heard from Purchase? I’ve seen in the past sometimes they have a quick turnaround. Nothing on my analytics yet either
  16. That’s comforting to know that it’s a program anyone can grow in! Thank you
  17. I applied to CMU as well and I saw some posts in last year’s forum and on Reddit from last month. To sum it up the students aren’t very kind to each other and are put against each other, there’s not rly a curriculum or courses for grad students, the faculty aren’t helpful and don’t like their jobs and they don’t engage with the students. It almost sounds more like a bad-energy residency. I doubt I’ll get in anyways but hearing more concerning things than positive about a program is alarming to me!
  18. On their website, Purchase says interviews are late Feb-March with decisions being late March to early April. But in the past, people seem to have interviews early Feb and have a decision mid Feb when accepted. So, I don’t know! I think it depends on how many people are applying and I’m seeing more people on the forum this year saying they’re applying to Purchase than last year. I’m banking on interview requests going out by last week of Feb
  19. Congrats to everyone for their interviews and acceptances! My top schools send out requests in February usually so I’m just sitting here waiting..
  20. So glad everyone is also getting worried about interviews..I’m checking my portals and email constantly!! I only have had an interview for SUNY Purchase’s art history program and I was told it’ll be a bit for visual arts and I’ll hear back for them at the same time. Fingers crossed and good luck to everyone!
  21. Last year I didn’t have any interviews and this year I had one for visual arts and one for art history (dual degree program, but these two weren’t for the same school). I usually ask about what’s important for me like facilities, funding, teaching opportunities, and jobs post-grad, like what are their alumni doing. It’s always good to ask questions! You can even ask them to be more specific on something they mentioned during the interview. Also, just because you don’t get requested for an interview, doesn’t mean you’re not getting in! Unless they specifically say on their website they do interviews, some programs just do not interview! The one I got into last year didn’t do interviews.
  22. This is my second time applying! I got into one program last year and couldn’t afford it so I didn’t attend. The best thing you can do is remind yourself it’s out of your hands now and all you can do is just wait. You’ve done everything you can! Congrats on submitting everything! Things work out how they’re supposed to : ) I know it’s easier said than done to just relax and pat yourself on the back right now..but you got this!
  23. I am! It’s rough out here bc that’s the most common discipline
  24. I applied to CMU and I feel like most of the negative stuff I’ve seen is old..but I could be wrong and feel free to correct me! It’s a well-ranked program but it was very much my reach school and I like the work being made there. I think if you have everything prepped, are able to apply then it doesn’t hurt to, and think the program will be a good fit then it doesn’t hurt to apply!
  25. Nope! But I saw you had an interview so, congratulations! I’m assuming since I haven’t had an interview a rejection is imminent. It may just take some time to hear back post-interview for you.
