On that note, does anyone know of ppl who got off the waitlist and received admission for Stanford? I heard that for some schools the waitlist is quite meaningless as they normally do not use it.

Hi, I am quite curious about stanford's statistics PhD waitlist system. Does anyone know if there actually are people who got waitlisted for Stanford and then received admission later on? I only saw one post from 2015 about getting off of the waitlist. I got waitlisted for Stanford this cycle and I am wondering if it is worth waiting till april as I have received admission from another great school.

Hi, I received an interview request from one of the POIs at Berkeley stat and I was wondering if anyone can share how Berkeley stat interviews are usually like? Also I noticed that some people received two interview requests but I have only received one so far. Does anyone know how this process works?

Hi, I have already submitted my CMU PhD application but my official TOEFL score still hasn't been sent to the school. I don't think it would be able to be sent to CMU before today's deadline. Does anyone know if CMU still accepts applicants who send in their official score reports after the deadline?

Hi , I am an international student applying for statistics Ph.D this cycle. I recently took GRE as there are still few schools like standford that require gre scores. However my scores are not that great. As in my verbal and quant scores are ok-ish (v:161, q:170) but my writing score is much much below average (3.0) . (I have trouble writing essays for topics I haven't thought about deeply in a short amount of time which is what gre asks you to do. And I ended up running out of time without finishing my conclusion.) Do u guys think this is a huge deal breaker for admission to gre-required schools? I have written english manuscripts for statistics research I have done and my toefl score is very high. Do you think this can make up for my incredibly low gre writing score?

Hi, I am currently working on my SOPs for statstics Ph.D and I was wondering if I should mention the names of professors that I want to work with. To be honest, I don't have a perfectly set area of statistics that I want to do my Ph.D on at the moment. I want to explore more after I go into my Ph.D. So, I haven't put the names of professors in my SOP. But I saw that in uc berkeley statistics homepage faq section for Ph.D applicants, they answered 'Instead, on the application, you will list faculty members who you would like to work with should you be admitted to our graduate program. ' to a question about whether or not applicants have to contact faculty before admission. Does anyone know if this is a requirement for berkeley or is just something that applies for applicants who already have certain professors in their mind?
