  1. I'm not sure how their waitlist works but I'll very likely be declining my spot as the financials just don't make sense for me, hopefully it means you'll get moved up! Congrats by the way!
  2. I've seen no reported rejections from Notre Dame yet. Likely meaning they haven't pushed them out, I crossed it off my list a long time ago but I guess there's always a chance! Edit: Looks like last year they didn't send rejections till the end of April, but it does look like someone got a waitlist around that time as well. Who knows!
  3. Any one have word on Arkansas, or Tenn waitlists? Also I haven't gotten an offical rejection yet from NYU or Notre Dame, I imagine it's just taking a while
  4. I really truly appreciate the responses and I hope I didn't offend anyone with my ask. It's my first year applying. So far good news has been hard to come by. I don't think Columbia gives out hard numbers for acceptance rate and such so info like this is super important.
  5. Does anyone have any info on Columbia now that responses are coming out? The general thing i've heard is: "they accept almost everyone who applies, unless you have funding don't go." I don't have access to all the previous years data or how many applicants they got this year that didn't get an offer, but can anyone speak to how true this is? And please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not just asking this to be vain or rude, knowing info like this is going to be part of what determines if the best idea is infact to just wait another year and apply somewhere else, because if it's not as easy to get in then maybe my writing actually has some value. Congrats to everyone above, I'm so proud of all of you, even my fellow peeps with the R's and the W's, our time will come!
  6. Looking for a final bit of hopium. Is there any reason why emails for acceptances wouldn't all go out at the same time? like maybe they do some personalization? IDK. its over.
  7. I was a little surprised they would be making calls past 5pm but I guess it could make sense that they are trying to catch people when they aren't at work. Looking at the notifications from past years, is it typical for Iowa (or any other school) to call later in the night? Most of the timestamps im seeing are either at like 1pm or near midnight, and I don't know if that's because it's when they would actually call or if there's a lot of people who are applying from different timezones and they're using local time for their timestamp.
  8. What's interesting though, is that the website says 2/7, which y'know is not the date, so I'm surprised that they not only didn't notice the year being off but also did not notice the day? That rejection was also submitted on 2/1 from what I remember so it was a full week off from the wrong date. Would be a hard mistake to make if it was one. I think it's actually more likely that this person either got rejected individually or put in the wrong school but who knows, good luck to them either way. Imagine if that person get's in, would be a great feeling to get an email from a program that you thought already rejected you!
  9. Does anyone know if Ole Miss and Arkansas's round system differs from UTK's? It seems like with UTK if you move to round 2, it's a strong indication you'll get a waitlist but not necessarily a guaranteed acceptance. However, Ole Miss and Arkansas, it seems more like you're very likely to get in if you go past round 1, seeing as for those schools you can't even officially "apply" until they tell you that you've moved forward. Any thoughts? I also wanted to say that I know it's not feasible for every school, but the round system is so much better for the applicant in my opinion or... it seems more transparent at the very least. I know that it's not possible for every school though, given the amount of applicants and other logistical challenges. Good luck again to all, by the way. I have been trying my best to focus all of my energy somewhere productive now that the long wait has begun. I do feel like I'm writing new and fun things again rather than being stuck in editor mode on very old ideas. It's also a great time to read. If anyone has any good book suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
  10. I see a lot of people applying to UofM I know it's a great program, but does anyone have any insight as to if their admissions team favors in-state residents? I have seen sources say that for undergraduate UofM is twice as likely to admit someone from Michigan rather than an out-of-state student, and I wonder if this carries over in some ways? Would be good to know if this is true with other schools as well. Or maybe it would make people more anxious to know that this has an effect! haha Either way, Best of luck to everyone!
  11. Hello all, The process begins, figured I would start a thread on here with a story. I just submitted to one of my top choices with a letter that references another school! It's very brief and the rest of the letter references the correct school, but take this as a sign that mistakes happen and it's okay to give yourself some space! Always have someone else read over your letter and other materials. I must have gone over mine ten times and still missed this, despite checking everything else and keeping a mostly unique letter for each school. Who knows if this will be enough to deny me flat out, I'm sure my very poor writing will be enough lmao! Either way, best of luck to everyone. December 15th is still a few weeks away, but would love to hear from how everyone's doing and share responses. P.S: Seems like UTK is the first school most will hear any news about since they have a first and second round system. I have seen some hear on being moved to the second round as early as December 16th. Obviously not an acceptance but a good sign that there is some quality to your writing that a school might be interested in.
