Hi everyone, I recently withdrew my acceptance to the UWaterloo part-time program. I hope this allows for movement on the waitlist 😊 Best of luck!

Congratulations, that’s awesome you were able to get off the waitlist! I have inquired the same thing and as far as I know you can apply to the Ontario Graduate Scholarship application and then also there will be internal faculty awards we can start applying for in September/October. We will be notified when those are available 😃

yes it is called MSW University of Toronto 2024 Entry!

I can't answer your first question since I have not paid the deposit, but I am guessing we will hear more closer to the info session for admitted students scheduled for early April. As for the second question, I have asked the faculty and you can finish as quickly as end of June depending how you spread out your courses and what summer courses specifically you take. For example, there are a few courses in the summer that finish by end of June, so you do not have to stay in Toronto after the completion of all requirements. Regardless, November would be when graduation is held and your tuition is for 3 terms (Fall/Winter/Summer) even if you finish a bit earlier than that.

I submitted mine about 10 minutes before the deadline 😅 haha. My best guess is that they have a ranking system and roll out admissions that way. I feel each school does it so differently so it’s hard to know for sure when you will hear back in comparison to everyone else!

McGill started sending out their decisions today. Saw a status update on the application page with a rejection letter attached. Congratulations though to those who were accepted! I have heard back from all the schools I applied to and will be accepting U of T’s offer 😊 Hope to see some of you folks in September!

Just heard back from UVic this afternoon on the applicant status page. I have been waitlisted! No email or anything though, was just doing my routine check Just FYI
-
Thank you! Congrats to you as well. I am still debating as I have not heard back from UVic or McGill. I will most likely accept U of T, but the online nature of Waterloo is flexible so I can work as an RSW while in school. So many things to think about 😅 Did you accept?

Just got accepted into the part-time program at UWaterloo! I logged on to Quest and my status changed to ’Admit,’ conditional of sending proof of completion of my BSW degree and my official transcript. Not sure if an email will also be on the way. Perhaps other part-time students will start hearing back?

It seems they consider folks with diverse experiences and backgrounds so definitely take my stats with a grain of salt 😃 I have a 3.7/4.0 GPA, almost 7000 hours of experience, mainly in research, community development, peer support, and group facilitation. Reading back on my application and knowing I wanted to do the social justice stream, I focused answering my questions in a way that made it seem like my life experiences led me to this field of study. I am especially passionate about macro social work, so i explained how graduate school would help me solidify these skills and gave concrete examples. On the MSW application page, they say to explain how you would be a good fit for U of T’s program in particular. I read the specific course outlines and wrote how the program’s offerings would enhance my skillset and can be transferred back to my home community. I also shared personal details and how overcoming obstacles in my life brought clarity to my decision to pursue social work and what those lessons would mean for my future practice. Sorry this is so long. Hope it helps!

Hi everyone! I also saw on ACORN that I was accepted to the full-time U of T MSW advanced standing program! My first choice was social justice & diversity and my last name starts with P. This is so exciting, U of T is my top choice and I will likely accept. We have until May 31st to pay the deposit it says. I am still waiting to hear back from UWaterloo (part-time), UVic, and McGill. Good luck as more decisions roll out 😊

Hi everyone! So happy to have this place to discuss this year’s round of applications. I will probably check this forum more often in February/March/April because it is so easy to compare ourselves to one another when I am sure we are all highly qualified for the schools we are applying to! I will leave some of my stats/info here to gauge the interest to certain schools 😀 • Current BSW student, will graduate in spring 2024. GPA 3.7/4.0 and A+ in my research courses. I have a BA and independent research experience in mental health • Throughout my BA, I was engaged in mental health advocacy, group facilitation, and peer support. The summer after I graduated, I worked at a shelter full time and continue to do so • My interests in social work and grad school have shifted from just mental health to housing, social policy, and community development. I have summer experience in the same working for my local government • 300 practicum hours so far in a healthcare setting • Hours of experience (human services related and otherwise): ~6,900 Schools I am applying/have applied to: 1. U of T advanced standing, social justice and diversity, full time 2. UWaterloo advanced standing, part time 3. UVic advanced standing 4. McGill non-thesis, international and community development, full time Looking forward to chatting with you all! Good luck on your applications.
