This has probably been asked before but is it safe to say that if I haven't heard yes or no from Iowa so far that it's a rejection?
-
I have friends who went there for undergrad and said the faculty are SO amazing. Congratulations!!
-
Has anyone heard any updates at all regarding the Iowa waitlists??
-
If there’s a chance that funding from another school could change your decision, then you have every right to take as much time as you need. This is an enormous life choice and you need to do what is best for yourself! edit: aren’t the other schools you listed all fully funded anyways?

UNLV….where art thou… 😞😞😞😞 Jealous (happy jealous!) of anyone who gets to go to Boise or Montana, those landscapes look so conducive to writing cool stuff!!

Anyone know anything about Nevada Las Vegas? The waiting hurts

Bernie is once again asking for Arizona to do its thing

just smiled very broadly - congratulations!!!!

Depression sure does amplify the worthlessness feeling of rejections. Anyone else dealing with that? And on a related issue - anyone else applying for the first time as an "older" applicant? I'm early 30s, and while I'm totally glad I did not apply when I first wanted to (10 years ago; my writing wasn't ready and I've had a lovely non writing career since then), I can't help but feel like my current tally of 0a/1w/6r is going to lead to a do-over. Is it worth it to try again as a mid-30s applicant?

That’s wild, since there aren’t any poetry acceptances listed on Draft or grad cafe
-
Bernie meme: i am once again asking for news from Minnesota, UNLV, Virginia, Arizona….

I’m in a similar situation (first time applying, all rejections with one waitlist so far), and it’s v hard not to just write it all off, but it helps me to remember that when 700 people apply for 12 spots, that doesn’t imply a pool of 688 bad writers in addition to those 12 awesome ones. Plus every year it looks like many people get into one great school and get a rejection from another equally great school.

Any word on when Minnesota poetry decisions might happen?
-
ah well, the nightmare continues
-
Has everyone's portal changed for Michener?? Mine still says "in review" but I see reported waitlists and rejections have come via a portal change. Do they normally come out over multiple days?
-
This waiting is awful, none of my schools have made poetry decisions yet 🤣🙃
-
Minnesota rejection on the results page - doesn't say fiction or poetry 😖 better hit F5 on that portal again
-
I know this waiting is so so so stressful but it is fun to see the wild expressions of joy when people get good news 🤩

THIS we love this!!!

IU waitlist prayer chain commence

Only three schools I applied to have released results and they're all fiction except for that outlier Syracuse acceptance. Also- had my first "I'm in college" dream, so it's great to know the obsessive refreshing is reaching my subconscious. The college in my dream seemed to offer only one major, ping pong, so that was a nice twist.

Oh hooray, now the stress gets ratcheted up more 😭
-
So happy for everyone getting acceptances!! I haven’t heard from any schools I applied to so this has been an interminable month.
-
I told myself I would read a bunch. Turns out refreshing grad cafe is much more productive 🤪 😆😆

Wishing everybody the best this cycle!! First time applicant, lurked for a couple years now. Have seen enough amazing writers apply multiple years that I’m keeping my expectations healthy 😅 Applying in poetry to Iowa, Michigan, Syracuse, Indiana, Minnesota, Virginia, Vanderbilt, Michener, Arizona, and UC-Irvine. 0a/0w/0r/10p
